    2002 camaro L36/m5

cam specs are 210/210 .507/.507 111ls 107ic...cam was installed for both runs. gears i went from 3.23 to 4.11.

    before the gears:

    60'--2.124
    1/4---14.945
    MPH---92.39

    after the gears:

    60'--2.070
    1/4---15.238
    MPH---90.56

so my 60' has decreased, but my overall time is slower...wtf! i have to shift into 4th now, so i'm guessing that is to blame? in 4th i am crossing the 1/4 line at approx 4800 rpm.

anyone else have any ideas? suggestions? maybe i should go to 4.56's so i'm crossing the line closer to 6000 rpms in 4th? going to 3.73 i don't think is going to help enough, i'll still have to go into 4th i think

yout mph is down... thats more to worry about..

and 4.11s? thats kinda steep, have people gotten gains off of them... coudl also be why your mph is lower.

think you can launch harder with them? try going a few more times.

Thought it was already decided that 3.73 were the best bet for gears?

Yup, the biggest reason for those times is that you shifted into 4th a couple feet before the end of the 1/4. You want to get a powerglide. It has 2 gears and this way you only have to shift once.

Yea you can get a powerglide... if you don't want to drive it except at the strip and don't mind wasting money...

Hi, I had a question. I'm trying to decide what gears to get for my automobile. You said 3.73s were the best. Can you say why? Thank you and God bless!

Yup if I remember correctly magnus tested all the gears and had a write up on which ones were too much and which weren't enough. Also acouple other members of the board have done this as well. Although I did not say 3.73s were the best ;)

Thought it was already decided that 3.73 were the best bet for gears?

I have 3.73 and love them...Highway is still practical and helped my quater mile a ton! I switched from 3.08s though.
Even in a drag car I dont like powerglides..yes they use less power and are strong but just not enough gears..to big of bog...not to attack but a poerglide was a little off the wall idea lol

James thinks 3.23s are much better. I would just go with 3.23s.

I know if I get gears its going to be 3.73s but wether you have a manual or an auto can effect what gears you would want.

Powerglide was a little of a joke idea also. ;)

Last night I was at the track with another camaro v6.When i had my 3.08s this guy was about .1 faster than me. He has 3.23s and ran a best of 16.5..I have 3.73s and ran a 15.7...both autos. I liek 3.73s, but thats just my opinion
