I think the way we can beat the 94-98 GT stangs stock for stock is if they are automatics (AOD) and we are 3.8 M5's..non convertible. Other than that, the Stang's have us beat..unless they can't drive...

$600 is nothing, with the motor work, suspension, and drivetrain I have spent atleast $5000. Don't complain about $600 and not getting anything. I walk the older mustangs all day long. Spend some more money then you can complain.

I'm just getting the impression of a person who just threw some money into a car without knowing what it would do. Come on, an auto V6 vs a manual 5.0. I am surprised that you are surprised that you lost. I still remember when I was 16 and just getting seriously started into modded my Nova. I didn't have a lot of money but I can assure you that I didn't waste $600 on a full cat back system, whatever intake and a 160 degree thermo. You have to realize that all of the bolt-ons only create minor bits of power. Obviously, I am not talking about power adders. The 160 * thermostat does no good without the computer being reprogrammed or the installation of a manual fan switch. The catback doesn't do all that it can since you still are using the stock manifolds. The intake is fine but since the exhaust is still restrictive it doesn't help that much. The first part of modding any car is research. This website is FULL of info on every mod ever made and anything that drivers have done to their cars. Personally, I think that the $600 should have gone towards headers and then the next step would be a cam. But that's just me.

First of all he isnt talking about a 5.0 and second...you think his first two mods should have been to do headers and then a cam? Wow...

5.0, GT its all the same to me.
Umm, yeah. The headers greatly increase volumetric efficiency (more power) and the cam is a real power maker. All of the bolts are fine but if you want a better bang for your buck you won't spend money on things like 160* thermostat, a K&N intake and/or partial exhaust work for $600.

I agree with what everyone is saying. I myself can't stand to just throw money into my car and not research how to get the best bang for my buck. On that note, I don't like to buy directly from a company without first browsing eBay or our classifieds to find the same part for less money. This story seems like the perfect example of an uneducated person expecting to see huge gains from a poorly applied (fairly) large amount of money for a 16 year old. Learn to be patient with the mods and build the car slowly, understanding that in the long run more money generally implies more improvement.

um yea.....i did plenty of research and the majority of people said here (probably 90%) go CAI Cat Back first...which is what i did....i looked for about a week at 4 different sites and they all said the same

secondly im 18....making 600 dollars a week tax free so i can afford what i need

thirdly, i dont want to buy from ebay or classifieds...never know exactly what your getting...and i dont feel like going through the hastle of sending it back and all that trash

fourthly, it seems your the uneducated one putting weird things in your car first after practically everyone ive talked to told me the exact same thing...and that is what i did

fifthly, i put cat back for hp and sound...im not a v8 remember

also, after talking at another site and this about this same thing everyone seems to think i faired pretty damn well against a car with 20 more stock hp and like 50 more stock trq, plus it being lighter and a manual

please dont accuse before you know all the facts or you just look stupid yourself, i am planning on getting headers but am still looking around for the best ones (a.k.a. educating myself.....)
