  • 2nd time to the track and I found something out...

    I NEED SLICKS!!!

It wasn't a good day to start. I woke up w/ a cold, none of the chips I programmed worked (so I had to use a generic one which = no tuning) and one of the nitrous lines started leaking when I got to the track so no spray. I couldn't get the car to hook up at all. The tires didn't spin the last time I took it to the track but I also had that dual friction clutch that was slipping instead of the tires. It would spin half way through 1st and then for a second after I shifted into 2nd. We went down to US 41 in Indiana and it was 70* with little humidity.

I guess I can be happy since all of the trap speeds are up 2-3 mph. Just more money to spend to get it to hook up.

trap speeds look pretty good... not your best 60s though.

Yep, its still has the 3.73's on it. Yes, I know the 60's suck. Maybe if I had sprayed the tires with ever-stick or something. This cold sucks!

sometimes VHT works to my advantage and sometimes it doesn't... i tell you what though, i never knew how important tire pressure was until i went to the track. i have to lower my rears to 19 PSI just to prevent wheel hop.

anybody who needs a secret santa present this year can get me some LCAs

You don't need slicks to run low 15s... you need to learn to launch the car and/or suspension.

Hey, as far as the wife is concerned, I need slicks.

Yes, I know I need to learn how to launch. I have been driving automatic at the strip for so long that I have not had an practice with a manual.
What suspension parts will keep me from spinning? I already have boxed lower control arms and subframe connectors. I know I need to replace the PHB but is there something else I am forgeting?

What kind of tires were you on last time? Drag radials or regular street tires?

If you were on regular street tires I would try some drag radials. BFGs have worked well for me.

LCAs, a PHB and like BLLDOG suggest perhaps a torque arm will help with traction... but I don't see the need in a Torque Arm when you're running mid 15s.

I have never been to US41 nor do I know how it is normally preped... but from reading the feedback from the N. vs S. shootout everyone was saying the track was prepped horribly. Get some drag radials and practice launching it... you'll get it down eventually, just takes time.
