  • Can i hit a 15 flat

I went down to carlsbad raceway today and only made three passes a 15.7, 16.1 and 15.5
the outside air temperature was about 90 degrees
Anyways this was my first appearance and my car is bone stock with the exception of a flowmaster 40 series muffler, gutted cat and stage 1 clutch
    My best Run is
    R/T:.925
    60ft:2.344
    330ft:6.513
    1/8thET:9.979
    1/8thMPH:70.67
    1/4ET:15.539
    1/4MPH:90.25

When i go back to the track next week i plan to remove passenger seat, back seat, sub box, lower my tire pressure to get my 60ft down, and remove my intake so that it is open throttle body(my last run which was 16.1 had a 92.01 trap speed, just a horrible 60ft).
Is it possible that with these changes I could hit a 15.2, or even better a 14.999?

Don't count on it. 100 pounds is typically only good for .1 second. I guess you could luck out and get a 15.299, but the 90 degree weather isn't really helpin ya much.

My car bone stock hit a 15.3 (minus backseat, passenger seat, spare, and jack). That was on a perfect day of racing. I don't think that the mods that you listed will get you very much closer, especially with those temperatures.

Your trap speed seems high enough fir a low 15 at least. Get your 60' down, remove as much weight as you can and you may be close.

Yeah i guess i am a bit optomistic for a 15 flat, but i had really bad wheelspin even on the 15.5 pass. also one more question, I have two tire choices, BFG tractoin T/A or Kumho Ecsta Supra. both are 245's, I tried the BFG's but they just don't want to stick, will i maybe have better luck with the kumhos?

                get your 60' time down...

they say .1 in the 60' is good for .15-.20 in the 1/4.

anyhow, i got into the 14's with high 91mph trap speeds...

you can do it, just gotta drive it!
