• Tips For A First Timer? (starting, juice, etc)

What's up? So I'll finally be heading out to the track this weekend for my first time. I'm excited . I'll be running as little weight as possible, 6 lbs. of boost, and a 75 shot (I wanted to wait till I had 9 lbs., a 100 shot, and 3.42s, but oh well..that's next season ). I'm expecting somewhere in the mid - low 12s. Any tips?? I've never been so I don't really know what to expect. I'm mostly wondering when a good time to hit the juice is. I've got hotchkis sway bars, traling arms, and pan hard rod so I'm not too bad on spin, but none would be ideal haha. If I hit it too late, I'll miss out on my precious horses, but too early and I'll get more spin. I'm riding on Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s (I normally use Yokohamas). Thanks for any info! if it's your first time to the track i don't know that i would expect mid to low 12's, especially with street tires. run what you run and improve on it in the fall. i think the launch will be the hardest part to get down so don't get too bent out of shape when your first run is a high 13 or something like that.

as for the rhythm and cadence of life at the track, there are some stickies right above this post that give you basically all the info you need. if you have questions, ask... they don't get too pissed off.

Mid to low 12s with 6lbs and a 75 shot on Kumhos? My suggestion would be not to set your expectations so high. I would be looking for high 13s and killer 2.3-2.5 60 foots all day.

well..first time at the track anyway...i've done a lot of practices with the g-tech just to give me an idea...i guess my start is really going to make all the difference...i see guys saying to launch at around 1100 rpms ...do you know what rpm range is best for launching with the supercharger?...also...whats the word on on tire psi?

without a decent stall convertor... you might be able to flash it up to 1800 rpm or so. some stock convertors are looser than others, but i think that is the usual practice.

ross is on to something when talking about your kumhos. i think most guys would opt for some drivetrain improvements (gears, convertor, shift improver, slicks or DRs) on boost and gas.

then again, i have a manual and i've never cut anything better than a 2.0X so <levar burton> don't take MY word for it! </levar burton>

From his website it looks like he does have 3.08s.

With all that weight and those tiny tires on your 17" wheels and an open rear... you'll never hook.

                  Your car is uh... interesting.

I think it doesnt matter much on 18" Kumhos, youre going to spin your balls of regardless

                            farkakte...

raise your front tires to 40 psi and start with your rears around 27... i used to get awful wheel hop with anything more than 21 psi in the rears but since you have LCAs you might be able to go a little higher.

do yourself a favor though and don't buy anything else until you get some salad shooters and DRs... your times will thank you for it (even if your rear end doesn't) :D
