  • is there something wrong with my car running 16s?

i was just talking to someone on the forum and he said theres something wrong with my car if im running 16 flat.. ive run about 40 times and my best is 16.02... i'm on the 3.08 rear end and i have a 1999 A4 with Whisper lid slp cold air, k&n, jet PCM magnaflow hi-flo cat and small stuff like that.. Is 16 seconds bad for a 1999 with 42k miles on it, should i get the car checked out? I just ordered 3.42s and all the kits and posi, will that help?

it is pretty dang slow considering your mods. but every car is different and some just run slower or faster than others. yours is just the suckyer end

Must have been a Monday Friday car... Monday hate going back to work, Friday throw the damn car together so you can get home.. lol
Those 40 times that you have run I am assuming some have been in some pretty good weather? 60 degrees low humidity? If so, I would say something isnt quite right with the car.

the 3.42s should put you in the mid 15s ...some cars are just broken in differently than others...just the way it is i guess

            When was your last tuneup?

The gears won't likely take you down to mid 15's... but they'll help. I only went down 2 tenths as I spun more :(

16.02 was about the same I was running with my 3.08 gears and open diff. I had basically the same mods(whipser lid, CAI, muffler(not catback), and K&N filter)
I would run anywhere from 16.1 to 15.8 on street tires.
Now with my 3.42 I am running consistant 15.7 with my drag radials.
