• Proving the "Very Stubborn Firebird Hater" wrong...

Ok... most of you guys read my earlier topic about the guy who says 3.8 firebirds can't get close to 15's in the 1/4 mi. We are gonna go to the drag strip soon (before sept.) to see who is right. I told him I am capable of breaking 15's. I have never done this before and I bet I will suck my first few times. I have a 1999 3.8 Firebird A4 with the Y87 Performance Package. It has 41,000 miles on it. He says he will be speechless if he see's me get into the 15's. So I am hoping for a 15.9 time. What do you guys think?

well the fact you havnt gotten into the 15s with a 3.8 with LSD and 3.42s is very unfortunate. i hope you dont get laughed at. i would go to the track like a week before hand to just to make sure you can so you dont get laughed at. i would choose a good day to do it also, weather wise.

I read in other posts that track conditions are more slippery than normal streets. Do you think I will spin at all even though I got a LSD ?

If you had an M5 I would gaurentee that you would hit 15's. But with the A4's I have seen cars run significantly slower. I have a 98 M5 that ran 15.7 my first time down the track and by the end of the day pulled a 15.32. So I am sure that you could do it, especially since you don't have a peg leg.

well, you can spin easily and you can not easily. it depened on the track prep and how much control you have over your car.

Man, I could only dream of getting a 15.3 on my first day. I have 235-55 street tires on stock 16 inch rims. What do you guys recommend the psi should be for my front and rear tires ? They are the Stinger brand. I have never heard of them. The car came with them when I bought it. I don't think I will spin because my tires are fairly new and I dont spin (not even a squeak) at all unless its raining.

Remember... I will be representing the almighty V6 Fbody, so help me out.

find the happy place with no wheel hop...

i normally suggest to start at 25 psi and work your way down. it all depends on how much rubber and vht there are on the track though- among other things.

My very first run was a 15.22 @ 89, with intake and exhaust mods, but I also had LCAs. Try to get some LCAs before you hit the track.

M5s are faster. :D Look at their trap speed. The only thing I can think of that A4s got over M5s are consistency and the convience of just pushing the gas pedal to move. M5s you actually have to DRIVE and have mad skillz to shift the gears and make the car go fastah.. ;)
