• powerdyne update, first #'s are in.

Wellll, I thought I would post some of my progress so far with the setup. I took it to the track last week. Here are the details:

Bud Park, 2300 ft above sealevel,
Edmonton, Albera, Canada
28 degrees C, very little wind, not too humid (dont know the exact %)

My car,
Auto, 3.08, completely stock, except for an edelbrock catback, and the powerdyne/greddy intercooler. Stock fuel pump. Less than 1/4 tank, spare tire removed.

Previous best at the track: 16.002 @85 mph

5 pounds boost:
best: 15.07 @ 91 mph

And now for the dyno results:

Dynojet facility, could only make pulls in 1st and 2nd, unfortunately would hit the limiter in 3rd.

Peak RWHP: 1st gear, 201
Peak RWTQ: 2nd gear, 243

(walbro 255 fuel pump was installed before the dyno was done, however is now shorting out my PCM BAT fuse every 5 min, and is probably going to be exchanged for a new one shortly)

So anyways, for the conditions with only 5 pounds of boost, I am quite happy with the numbers, and as soon as a new fuel pump arrives, I will try it at 10 pounds boost, and see what results I can get!

Not bad. You took a full second off your time so far!

What was your 60' time? Do you have lsd or not?

there's nothing wrong with my car or setup, I dropped a full second with 5 pounds of boost and no mods, really nothing to complain about. Not to mention we're 2300 ft asl, a 15 flat is a really good time around here, that works out to a mid fourteen, all that with an open rear, stock manifolds, cat, and fuel pump. If you ran a 15 with only boltons and then came up here and ran you'd be mid-high 15's at best.

Really though I see nothing but potential. Realistically if I get 3.42/3.73's, headers, high flow cat, fuel pump and bump it up to 10 psi instead of 5, I could easily put myself in the mid 13's up here at 2300 ft, which is unbelievable. Enough to embarass stock LS1's. It's coming along quite well, and I'm excited to see how much I drop the time.

And John D, sorry man my internet is down and I'm at the public library now, so I dont have a copy of the timeslip with me for my 60' and the rest of the details, I'll grab it and post that up tomorrow and let you know!

ok.. the altitude explanes some of your times.. however any SAE corrected dyno will compensate for that.. and those numbers are kinda low..

Not bad. You definately got alot of room for improvements.

Almost a second off. What was your before dyno. For 5 psi if you put 45-50 rwhp over stock then that is an excellent gain.

I notice though when the kit was on Greenglow's car, the intercooler wasn't getting any air, might not be very effective and can only serve as hampering boost. Maybe you should try running it without the intercooler and see if there is a difference.

Have you done the JohnD wrap?

It's a dyno from the wrong gear guys. 243rwhp in 2d gear is not that bad. I'd expect pretty close to 300rwhp (maybe 275) in 4th gear pretty easily.

Congrats, your car is making the power it should be, despite what anyone else here says!

Hmm, I didn't notice that. Post the rwhp and rwtq from each gear. One or the other for any gear doesn't help that much. But they do still sound in line with where they should be in those gears. 've seen big differences in numbers just from 3rd to 4th. 1st and 2nd to 4th would be alot bigger me thinks.

I actually couldn't get my before dyno unfortunately, the dyno was all booked up and I couldn't get my car in before the install. As for the JohnD wrap, yup I did it, however for the track I was only running 5 pounds of boost because I didn't want my car to lean out if I hammered it down to 10 psi. Acutally I babied my car alot even at 5psi before the fuel pump. You can never be too careful I guess.

As for the intercooler, I had been giving that alot of thought actually. I know it's probably seeing a bit of air, however probably not enough to bring it to it's full potential. I was thinking about cutting a small 10 inch chunk out of my air dam right where the intercooler is behind it, and then making a small air dam for the intercooler itself, so it can pick up the air that would be getting through the hole in the air dam. Or even perhaps making a little fold down air damn out of metal that would sit lower than the air dam, then I could just fold it out at the track or whenever I wanted to go hard where I know I wont be going over any speed bumps or anything like that. It's something I'm definately thinking about.

Post the rwhp and rwtq from each gear.
I'll post that soon, I'm at my in-laws right now, I have the numbers at home.
I know that my 1st and 2nd gear numbers were very close to the same for horsepower, torque was fairly close as well, I think it was 10 or 15 pounds lower in first, but I'll grab my sheet at home and post it. It really sucks having the internet at home down, that would make it easier!

Big gear can suck up as much as 10rwhp on the rollers in some cases, I've seen it.
