  • First time at track, extremely consistantly disappointing...

Crazy. I ran 4 times and all 4 ETs were no more than about 50 thousandths apart. I just removed the spare tire and jack and had my tires at ~24psi. The first two runs the air filter was in, the 2nd two it was out and no difference. It seemed like nothing made a difference at all. It was real hot outside, even after the sun went down. I don't feel so bad since a few newer modded GTs were running like 15.6 and a 5.0 with a huge cam and DRs only bested a 15.5. I think I should be running faster, high 14s should be well within my reach. Here's my times, any suggestions?

what mods do you have?? what tires??

Your times are not that bad for the mods you have.. not great.. but not bad..

did you prep the car at all?? removing that monster sub box will probably net you a tenth..

My suggestion would be to use the car for bracket racing... it's extremely consistant. You could win some races with it!!

yeah very consistant... And its fun when you get lined up with like a 12 seocnd car, and you see him flying up your *** trying to pass you at the finish.

According to Weather.com, the temperature at 8 pm (assuming you went at/near sundown) was 76°, dewpoint 51°, pressure 29.85. That makes for a density altitude of almost 1500 ft. The correction for 1500 ft altitude is .9835, which equates to a run of 15.17 @ 89 at sea level. ;)

Thanks for the weather info, that's something I didn't have.

Go-fast mods include just a whisper lid, kn filter and the FRA, 2.75'' exhaust, an aluminum driveshaft and 3.73s. I thought the 3.73/posi rear would have put me in the high 14s alone Maybe I over-estimated?

And my tires are 275/40-17 Nitto NT555s, the street tire, not the drag radial.

That's what one of the guys working at the track told me. He said he remembered my car simply cuz it was a v6 and each time I went down he couldn't believe how close they were. He was sure he'd never seen 4 passes by one car in one night that close.
