• gains with torque converter , LSD and 3.73s?

i've heard some wild claims about E/T gains from changing the TC and gears. I'd like to know what a realistic E/T would be on an almost-stock car (mine) from a new TC, LSD and 3.73s.

With a big enough converter and some tires... your 2.1 60' might drop to a 1.9 or 1.8 which would be somewhere around 15.2 or so.

You need to figure out how to get a better time then a 15.8 before you start messing with the converter. I wouldn't waste my time putting a converter into a car that didn't run any better then a 15.0-15.2.

Hopefully i'll see slightly better times this friday, with some weight reduction and cooler air temps.

with just the LSD and 3.73s, what am i looking at? i've heard of cars running several tenths quicker going from 3.08s to 3.42s, how about from 3.08s to 3.73s?

3.08s suck... but you might want to open your exhaust up a bit before messing with the gears.

exhaust &gt; gears &gt; converter

definitely man...open up that exhaust before the cat...it makes a nice difference..if you dont want it that loud all the time like mine was you can just use a cut out and open it up at the track...i've read by doin that you can gain up to 25 horses...the factory exhaust is very restrictive

25? MAYBE, maybe with FI. definitely not on our V6es.

hook your car up with some exhaust... i would wonder about switching to 3.73s before exhaust because it looks like you're making decent power down low. the car will fall flat on its face in the upper range unless you are able to free up some power.

get a decent I/E setup and you might see 5 tenths from 3.73s and LSD.

yeah thats just what i read...and thats the only reason i hollowed my cat out is because im FI ...i heard with the SC it makes a big difference...but yeah i would do the exhaust first...with that and the weight reduction you should see some time difference...then id go with the 3.73s after that...with the gears and allowing that engine to breath right i would think you could definitely see high 14s

Open up the exhaust before the cat? and leave it the same after the cat?

skorpion317... I wouldn't put too much weight into what 1dangerousV6 says, he is a troll that knows very little.

You have a 2.1 60' which is a decent 60' for an stock converted, 3.08 open rear car... but your MPH and ET are killer. Open up the exhuast some and race on a cooler day and you'll see much better times, then worry about the converter and gears. You're getting off the line fine as is... you just need to work on that ET and MPH. :D

</font>
he's not a bad guy, just a little misguided.

i have a set-up for the exhaust, i just need the money to buy it. The set-up would be:

RKSport Headers, welded on (damn leaking flanges)
3" Catco Cat
SLP Loudmouth catback w/ dual-dual tips
3" pipes

I've heard this on James's car, it sounds unbelievable! the "rice" aspect that so many people talk about isn't rice at all, it's a little raspy but it's not a buzzsaw. i just need the money to make it all happen. I'm accepting donations :D
