Don't manually shift the auto. Drive and overdrive will be exactly the same, when you floor the car it will not shift into overdrive.

      If you're trapping high enough, the car WILL shift into overdrive, but if you're not making it that fast anyway, then it doesn't matter what it's in (3 or D). As stated above, don't manually shift the auto- it can do it better than you can.

        i tried both overdrive and drive. overdrive works best for me, the car shifts smoothly. in drive, it holds 3rd gear for too long before going to 4th. so leave it in overdrive.

            wrong.

            It does not matter whether you leave it in D (3rd) or OD (4th) unless you are trapping way above 100MPH. You car will NOT shift into 4th, even 1dangerousV6's wont and he is boosted and spraying... I don't know how/why you think yours does skorpion317.

              </font>
sorry i meant third. the 2nd to 3rd shift takes forever when i leave it in drive. i didn't mean to put down 4th.

                Whether you leave it in D or OD should not cause the transmission to shift any different at WOT.

                        This always seems wrong. Hawgs saying something useful. What is the world coming to?

                            Play nice people

                            Drive or overdrive... all the same.... I don't know ANY v6 owner currently on this board that shifts into overdrive neat the end of the 1/4.

                            I used to due to speedo not being reprogrammed for different gears.
