• First Time at the Track results

Well tonight I was my first night at the track. Weather was about 65-70* and about 70% humidity. I removed the spare tire and back seats, but had a full tank of gas I ran with the mods listed in my sig. + adjustable fuel pressure regulator, shift kit, Aluminum driveshaft and completly aftermarket rear suspension. The car is a '95 3.4L Camaro. All the runs were made in Drive (no manuel shifting) and stalled to about 1500-1600 RPM before launching.

Times:
1st run, Fuel PSI was around 40-42 PSI
- 60 ft = 2.217
- 1/8 ET = 10.334
- 1/8 MPH =66.17
- 1/4 ET = 16.249 (best of the night)
- 1/4 ET = 83.02

2nd run, Fuel PSI about 45 PSI and opened up the cutout
- 60 ft = 2.279
- 1/8 ET = 10.436
- 1/8 MPH = 65.78
- 1/4 ET = 16.394
- 1/4 ET = 82.47

3rd run, Fuel PSI 48-50 PSI and cutout closed
- 60 ft = 2.275
- 1/8 ET = 10.386
- 1/8 MPH = 65.90
- 1/4 ET = 16.348
- 1/4 MPH = 82.09

Overall I was happy with how consitant the car was when though I wasn't in the 15's as hoped. What advice do you guys have to improve times based on the info I gave???
Thanks.

Well, full tank = extra weight.

The cool crisp fall air is coming soon.

Consistecy is a good thing.

15's aren't far off.

Do you pop the hood in between rounds to cool off the engine?

One thing is to keep the fuel psi the same... get times from that and adjust in 2 psi increments to see improvements or worse.

It takes time... but you will get there!

Ya I pop the hood, run my fan for like 5 mins, and ice the intake. I think the other problem I had was I left the car in Drive and just floored it. Next time up I plan manuely shifting instead of going so high into the RPMS, and I'll only have a 1/4 tank of gas. I'll drop the PSI down to where I had it for the 16.2 run and start from there.

I wouldn't worry about manually shifting the car. What rpm does the car shift at during WOT?

don't manually shift an automatic. you put extra stress on the tranny doing that. just leave it in drive.

Well with the Transgo shift kit I thought you could shift manually without causing extra stress??? The car shifts at redline at WOT.

It shifts there for a reason, where are you going to shift it? If you drive it right you'll shift it at the same place, except your tranny is quicker then you are so let it shift itself.

In an automatic the computer knows when/how to shift it better than you do. Let the computer shift. I would guess you would see worst times if you tried to manually shift it.
