  • tires, rims question

It has come to my conclusion (and others) that I need smaller, lighter rims and tires. I am currently running on 275/40/17 BFG drag radials on chrome 17x9.5 ZR1s.

My average 60' times are 2.337 but they are coming down with a best of 2.287.
    My average ET is 15.78 @ 86.27 with a best of 15.656 @ 86.77.

What size tires and would be good for me to run only at the strip and what are some good affordable lightweight rims? trying to get a better 60' time and lower ET

keep in mind I would keep my 275/40/17 on the front.
    Thanks

17s in the front are killer, but if you must only get rears I would go with some 16" Pro Stars with BFG drag radials on them.

Then save for some 15x3.5 Pro Stars for the front. :D

In the long run I would like to get skinnies on the front but for the immediate future I would like to just get rear wheels.

I have been using 3rd gen 15x7 firebird wheels for the rear with 235/60R15 BFG DRs. My best 60' with 3.23 posi is 2.08, with 4.10 posi is 1.94. 275 DRs are way too big for most of our applications.

I just bought some Weld ProStar 15x8 and put the same size on cause the old ones were toast. I should be breaking those in next week.

          Good luck!

I still have my wheels and am willing to sell them. They are Weld Draglites with MT ET Streets for the rear and skinny draglites on the front with MT Sportsmans... real decent combination that worked well for me. If anyone's interested, drop me an email..

WAY too much for a 15 second NA car.
