• Friends times at the 1/4

I have been working on my friends 01 firebird. It is the same one that I posted in advanced tech about the detonation issue. we have things working great with just some minor bugs. I went with him to the 1/4 mile in baton rouge the other night.

01 bird 3.8
5 Speed
Whisper lid
K&N
flowmaster (on the car when be bought it)

weather was bad. very very hot and humid. But still some good runs. I have been working on a project that I designed for the 3.8L fbody cars. With the mod list above and this mod with very hot weather he ran a time of

15.01 @91.87 with a 60" of 2.1

His clutch is slipping so we lost a bit there but if not for that and the weather we would have shattered 14's. I think that is damn good for 200 bucks worth on mods, open diff and street tires.

We plan to get back to the track soon with a few more things so we can break 14's. he did pull a few newer GT's through the 1/8

What project? I need to get me one of those "projects". Those are damn good times for those mods.
Hell I can only run 15.6-15.7 and I have more mods than that :(

lol. thanks. unfortunetly I can not say what it is at the moment., I hope to have it compleate in a feww weeks or so and actualy use that as a platform for my own biz that I am going to start. But needless to say we are getting about .3 - .5 with it the several times we are testing. I guess .4 is a good average. I am really surprised how well the car responds to it. we were so happy that he ran that flat 15 but then again do dissapointed that we didn;t lose that 0.02 and run a 14.99

lol. yeah that me.

Well. we kinda have a dyno and kinda do not. He dynoed with it at thunder racing but
1 he only got 1 run so no before and after
2 the mod had an issue that prevented it from really doing much at the time of the dyno.

I am going to try and see what we can do for it sometime soon.

Can you give me a hint on this mod? I could use anything that would get me a .5 sec faster if the price is right

well, it has to be 'tuned', so its not like an intake/exhaust mod persay.....could be a sensor-altering mod (adjusting a/f curves, etc), or a fuel pressure mod, or something like that......

im curious about it, but im not jumpin on the bandwagon to get this until i know what it is, how it works, and see good results.

but he has done his work on it, i been following it on fbody.com..........good luck man! lookin forward to numbers!

apearently he tells me now that he is hainga lot of trouble with his brakes. It;s also possible that his one wheel was locking up some and could have been hindering his times even more.

I'm curious to see some "out of the box" ideas for these cars. Droping that much time off the car without a cam swap or somthing similar is rather impressive. A tip, if you want to coyright your idea, all you have to do is mail the technical specs to yourself and never open the sealed package (inventors do it all the time). Don't keep folks in the dark tooo long ;)

I ahve never heard of that before. what do you mean by that?

and I just found out his brake problems were do to a sfozen slider. Apearently it was hanging up and not letting the caliper float. So everytime he hit the brakes the pads would stay right on the rotor. So even when he was staging at the track they were holding a little bt slowing him down some. I think it;s great that even with locking brakes and VERY hot and humid weather we were able to pull that much off of his last run when it was pretty cold. Next time we WILL hit 14's
