Reason I'm asking is because I've read that it's dangerous to run to run the PSI high like that...heat builds up in the tire and it expands just in the burnout box alone (on the rears). I don't know about the fronts, but still this sounds like a dangerous suggestion just to gain a couple thousandths if that.

My Lumina (3.1L v6, 3spd auto) runs a 17.428 @ 78.17
Yes, in a burnout box the rears will heat up a little bit, and cause the pressure to rise. How does a burnout box affect the front tires?
My rear tires (on the fwd Lumina) are rated for a cold psi of 44. I run them at 55-60 psi at the track, and have never had any trouble with them. They pick up approx 2 psi during an afternoon/evening of 10 runs.
Most 'skinny' tires are rated for a much higher psi than normal street tires for just this purpose. Like Tim said, he ran his at 90 psi (his rs ran a 14 flat @ close to 100mph IIRC). He never had any trouble with his either.
The reason I mentioned anything about tire pressure in the first place is because i thought that James was running a race-specific tire on the front, meaning that he *should* be able to safely run them at a much higher psi than he said he was running them at.

by DongrossmdI’m new. I actually don’t own a Camaro or firebird. I do have a 2000 Camaro 3.8 fly by throttle and 4l60e. This is installed in a 1980 Triumph TR7...3 weeks ago
