Viper, there's more to those guy's setup than just a sticky tire too! You need some suspension work to go fast, period!

i Went to San Angelo dragway today to do some bracket racing. This track is at 1800' actual elevation instead of 2800' like West Texas Raceway where my old bests were. I knew i'd run quicker but normally this track doesnt hook near as good, but was i wrong, I was leaving the line at 5500, it was awesome! Heres the details.

Bracket Race: Complete street trim. Through exhaust, all the weight, 1/2 tank of gas, belt on and at operating temperature, 50psi in the skinnies and 16psi in the rears. I dont know what the air was but there was about a 15-25 mph tail wind.

Run #1 TT #1
RT: .525
60': 2.087
1/8th: 9.071
mph: 78.34
1000': 11.749
1/4: 14.006
mph: 99.73
I launced at 3500 this pass expecting to spin, it hooked real hard then bogged super hard.

Run #2 TT #2
RT: .563
60': 1.986
1/8th: 8.949
mph: 78.34
1000': 11.629
1/4: 13.895
mph: 99.30
I raised the launch to 4500 and it still bogged really bad.

Run #3 Round 1
me him
dial: 13.80 12.26
RT: .560 .439(red)
60': 1.906 1.719
1/8th: 8.824 7.830
mph: 78.44 88.20
1000': 11.501 10.232
1/4: 13.763 12.265
mph: 99.49 110.78
I launched at 5500 this pass and it finally didnt bog. he went red so i ran it out the back door to get another TT.

Run #4 Round 2
dial: 13.76 12.26
RT: .546 .582
60': 1.921 1.707
1/8th: 8.870 7.788
mph: 78.17 88.33
1000': 11.556 10.190
1/4: 13.830 12.231
mph: 98.99 108.27
I had to run the same guy I ran first round, he bought back in. This time he got on the brakes at the big end but still broke out against me. The car bogged a little of the line and thats where the 60' and ET went.

Run #5 Round 3(semis)
dial: 13.76 11.41
RT: .510 .660
60': 1.895 1.648
1/8th: 8.833 7.248
mph: 78.09 95.63
1000': 11.521 9.465
1/4: 13.844 11.343
mph: 93.98 119.82
I had this guy tree'd so bad i didnt even shift into 4th, i just road the rev limiter out in 3rd till the end.

Run #6 Finals I WIN!!!
dial 13.76 14.10
RT: .591 .587
60': 1.895 2.138
1/8th: 8.815 9.116
mph: 78.08 79.73
1000': 11.506 11.753
1/4: 13.787 13.978
mph: 98.66 100.82
This car was a Z28 LS1 with slicks on it. It was funny how when i launched in got ahead of him right off the bat then he went back around me on the big end and broke out.

After that they told me that time onlys could be made because there were more cars left in other classes so i went ahead adn decided to go for a new best. I pulled all the weight, took off the Y-pipe, and let the car get cold to run without the belt. I knew it woudl haul *** because the 13.76 was the quickest by far my car had every been in street trim. The actual pass itself actually didnt feel that good but it stepped up big time everywhere. Heres the slip:

RT:2.005 <--was watching the tach
60': 1.846
1/8th: 8.513 <--best
mph: 81.26 <--best
1000': 11.103 <--best
1/4: 13.301 <--best
mph: 102.44 <--best
http://www.freewebs.com/wickedsix98/timeslips.htm

I knew it would run in the 13.3's but i didnt think that low! This was the first time ive ever run over 100 in the 1/4 and 80 in the 1/8th so that was cool too!

The downside is my rear end might be on the way out because its making a funny sound on deceleration. Leaving at 5500 is taking its toll. I'd really like to buy a 12 bolt now but I cant afford it right now so the racing might have to slow down for a little while.

Congrats on your Bracket win and a new best. With this weather getting cooler, a lot of racers will be getting new bests.
Did you win money or just a trophy?

I won $75, It was supposed to be 100 but I think the car count was so low that they pro-rated the purse. Oh well, Its still money and was tons of fun!
