  • F-Body catches fire @ MIR budds creek!!

Well during the burn out contest at MIR tonight for Import Vs. Domestic A 93-97 Black Trans Am catches fire after completing a wild burn out. The brake fuild under the got to hot and Ignitied. I stood their not being able to do anything but, watch it burn. Shelley, Evan, April and a couple of my friends were there watching. Evan did get pics and will be posting them later. I talked with evan and my friends and said that when the try to pick the winner of the contest we would start chanting Trans-Am, Trans-Am, Trans-Am, we got the whole crowd into it and he won the burnout contest. So in the end a LT1 motor burned up and the front clip of a pefectly good car fried to a crisp for a whole $100 prize and a trophy (this year they weren't even giving tires out to the winner). I sure evan will post later when he gets home to say anything I forgot. This is a sad night in the F-body world.

Yes they did but the firemen sucked. The motor is probally done but the front clip is ok to repair I would say. I dont think it will be a total loss.

Honestly I know its kinda ricerish, but I have really been thinking about getting a mini-fire extinguisher for my car. TO keep in the trunk with my "tool bag"

I have seen more then one car catch fire between meets and the track, and when it goes there isn't really much anyone can do. Just seems like it would be nice to have for someone else's car or even your own if it should catch fire.

Ricerish? Yea right...I'd rather be safe then called a "ricer". I wouldnt want my baby to catch fire. In the Vette we have one mounted right behind the driver seat. I dont consider it dead weight or anything, especially for a car that has traction problems if you know what I mean. I say definetly go for the fire extinguisher. Like I sad before, better safe then sorry.

Toss a fire Xting in the spare tire area.

                    2.5 pounder works well.

Get one with a ABC rating.

Halon is better but you can't pick them up anymore.

I used to work for a fire protection comp so I have.... a stash :D
