I tried something different last time out... Many have told me its a bad idea and won't work I figure I'd try it and see for myself, worse case I can dump air out of the tire if it sucked.

I pumped the left rear to 45 psi, and I ran 30 psi in the right rear. I was running on used yokohama ES100s I got used, they are slightly above the wear bar.

I pulled a best of a 2.12 60' several other 2.1s, then my last 3 runs I spun to bad 60's but I feel that was more track prep I believe others noticed they only prepped the track twice the whole night. Instead of between every round of runs.

So it worked for me, I say go and try it if you can, less rolling resistance the better

Please explain the principle behind this. I have never heard of this before.

Its partially similar to the idea of running a skinny in a way.

Skinnys do 2 things they are lighter(can't help that on stock wheels) and they are narrower putting less rolling resistance on the ground since they have a narrower patch of contact surface.

You overinflate stock tires and the middle will bow out, causing less contact surface with the ground.

Normally you only do it to the fronts while racing, but I figure since the left rear isn't putting any power out why not do it back there as well? Most people say don't do it, you'll get crappy 60's but I said screw it I will try it anyways and bumped it up to try it. I pulled the same to slightly better then average 60's and I was running a slightly better mph, but hard to see how much it helped since weather is different too.

This theory is also seen in running slicks, they actually sag and slow you down at the top end of the track one of the reasons why you shouldn't use them unless you need them to hook.

But like I said, the difference isn't like F&F when paul walker hits the naaawwwwwzzzz buttons and gets thrown into his seat, heck I even noticed it just rolling the car through the pits.

I mean all it takes is when you bump up your fronts before you go to the track you just go ot the left rear as well.

try it, put all your tires at 26-32 psi(whatever you run in the rears at the track) drive it and push your car. Then bump them all up to like 45-50 psi and drive and push your car you should feel a difference, at least I do.

Figure every little bit helps, especially when its free.

Extreme cases might even be able to run a skinny in the left rear but that might be wierd having largely mismatched tires left and right vs. jsut a pressure differnce.

        Never seen proof of this.

Glad to see it worked for you.

For drag racing... traction limited cars... always keep an open mind... someone will try something different.

If I had an open diff.... I would have extra weight over right rear tire, possibly an air bag in there pump up quite high, and slightly lower tire psi in the one wheel wonder tire.

Ask the man Eric (MustangEater) -- he probably has the best 60' on open on the board. Not that I'm trying to hang from his nuts, just that I can't slip it like dat.

i also tried this when i had an open diffy..my best 60' before the upgrade was a 2.1 also...but i didnt find that it made a difference (lowering one or lowering both) ..so i just lowered both..hoping to get 1.XX on my new setup

Yeah I keep hearing that guy knows his sh|t. He sounds really cool but I only see old posts of his, he must be on vacation or something.

Either way its a mood point, I installed an lsd last night in the cold, no more one tire fires for me
