• Just bought an engine...

Yup, another mighty 3800. This will be a strictly N/A tune (crazy cam and built heads and intake are in order). Work will start Fall at the earliest. I want to get as far as I can with the currect combination. Stay tuned.

95k miles on a 96 motor which apparently developed rod knock which was the reason for its replacement. The plan is all forged.

Remember for an NA motor, you really don't need forged internal so much. They are generally heavier than the stock type, and therefore rob you of some horsepower.

So although it sounds cool and hip to say it's a forged motor, it can be too much and hurt you in the end. Just an FYI.

Thats true Matt but to build a sure nuff Hoss of a NA motor, a good set of pistons will definately be necessary to turn more RPM's. I do however think the stock crank and a set of L32 rods with good rod bolts would probably be capable of about 7000-7200, maybe a little more.

the forged internlas are a litle bit heavier, but they also lend to durability.
there are a few tricks planned for this rebuild that will make it more than the average N/A 3.8 motor
