I wouldn't say the top end of an lt1 sucks compared to the ls1. Build both motor to the same specs and see who takes who out of the hole

well stock for stock the lt1 isnt close vs. the ls1. like i said i has the low end grunt to get you off the line quick but up top its not as good. the lt1s power band isnt as wide as the ls1s. ls1s from a roll of like 60 or so will own lt1s.

Hey the car is 13 years old ... $1800 doesn't sound too unreasonable.

If I do get this car its because it seems like a cheap price. I would happily get an LS1 but I dont have the money. Until I have the money please stop comparing the LS1 to the LT1.

I am going to go see the car tomorrow. :D

Go to www.speeddensity.org and ask around about the '93 F-Bodies.

I have two friends that own(ed) them, and they both love them. The speed density setup is a bit more work to tune, but the guys on the above website are extremely helpful. Give the car a very good look over before you decide to buy....

I'd prob take an LT1 over an LS1 due to low end grunt... us nitrous people prefer low end grunt!

Bah thats a myth that people beleive because the LS1 doesn't fall on its face like the LT1 at high RPM. GMHTP tested a 98vs97, the LS1 made more torque at every point in the RPM band.

Speed density rules if its tuned right.

have fun with the plugs and wires..And if you want to take it to a shop to have the tune up done, well lets just say it will be alot of money.. There is nothing wronge with a LT1.. Its a great motor.. Its just the LS1 is a better motor.. Hell its the best small block ever produced.. I have worked on several LT1's and my brother owned a LT1 Vette, but doing basic boltons like Optispark, plugs, wires, Headers is a all day event for each.. Thats why I wouldnt own a LT1 car.. And like 12second V6 said us Nitrous guys love low end tq but I know how often I change my spark plugs.. It takes 15 mins.. Niw if I had a LT1 it would take 2 Hours just to change plugs..

My buddy Jon dynoed his 02 ss last week.. He has full exaust minus headers, whisper lid, 3.73's, free mods, maf, and throttle body with a 100 wet shot.. Yeah the car made 345rwhp and 370rwtq and on the botle 465rwhp, and 584rwtq.. That is insane.. Now he has Long tubes and a nice stall.. LS1's are the $hit..

Also don't forget that LT1 parts are way cheaper than LS1 parts, if you plan on modding.

As an added bonus, we also remove the antenna to reduce aerodynamic drag. step 3 that thread is halarious, and yes go for the car. then put a for sale sign on it for $3500. drive it and if it sells then woohoo. my friend has his firebird and got it for 1100. its a daily driver and is a very nice car with all the options

1993 LT1 were speed density cars, as pointed out.

This makes tuning them are challenge, a real challenge to the self tuners out there.

But a big pro of the 93 LT1, they make good power. The typically put down 250 rwhp STOCK, they are underrated.

IMO, if you plan on modding the car, for $700 more you can get this...

                              http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=340310

As for LT1 vs LS1...out the box, LS1 is the clear winner in the power department, but once you start modding either, it levels out quickly.
