in a straight up race, stock for stock, which would more than likely win, a 97 v6 camaro rs, or a 97 firebird...both are automatics

So..... you pit.... the EXACT same car.... against the EXACT same car?

Depends on build tolerances and driver at that point

Firebirds are a little heavier than camaros, so I would guess the camaro. However the difference would be so slight that it would come down to the driver.

also lain prep. one side can be better and make you run faster. thats why especially when doing competition, racers watch others and keep track of how the cars performed. not to mention the stuuf pro. comps. racers go through. didnt think there was so much into drag racing did ya? This is very sad...this is all very, very sad...

They would most likely be quite even, though with mabe the camaro a HAIR in front of the bird...

          well, lets bench race.

          The 97RS has 200fwhp and 220fwtq
          The 97Bird has 200fwhp and 220fwtq...

The camaro is a LITTLE lighter than its bro..the bird. So then the camaro will BLOW AWAY the firebird any day...lol...omfg...

um...dacandystore, it's highly recommended that you first read up on the specifications of v6 F-Bodies before you make too much of an idiot out of yourself... http://tech.firebirdv6.com/ please spend some time there...

Neither has any type of FWHP, and neither put 200 RWHP to the ground stock.

The RS having an extra body kit may even account for the birds extra weight.

The only differance I can think of would be if 1 has 3.42s and the other has 3.08s at that point the 3.42s wins, if not it's a drivers race.

                  I agree with Nachius.
I don't see how you're saying the Camaro is lighter with a body kit.. and if the RS has 3.42s it will win.

Guys, the body kit doesnt weigh much at all, probably another 30-40lbs would be my best guess. Gearing would decide this race, except if they both have 3.08's...

Chadder, generally when someone types "fwhp" they refer to "front wheel horsepower." I've never seen anyone refer to flywheel hp in that way.

That will be a driver's race. Whoever launches better will most likely win. Gearing could also be a factor. If 3.08 vs 3.42 the 3.42 car will win in a drag race. If the specs are even, I give the Camaro the edge :D

I say go track and find out. You'll get him a couple times and he'll get you a couple times is what I'd say.
