  • I used the turbocharger; and it was good.

I went to MIR's quarter mile today to make a shakedown run on my turbo design. It was about 55* outside and the air was very humid. The car had:

    -3/4 tank of gas
-kuhmo 711's that are almost bald
    -tire press. at 30psi
-a full set of hand tools in the trunk
-a glovebox full of cd's and junk
-Spare tire and jack in the car

I revved it to 3500rpm and dumped the clutch. IT was the laziest launch ever, and I still managed to get

    R/T: .450
    60': 2.239
    330': 6.015
    1/8: 8.943
    mph: 87.27
    1000': 11.431
    1/4: 13.528
    MPH: 107.99

THat was one hell of a shakedown run! I could only make one because I now have to wear a helmet.

NO other passes. I was told I really should wear a helmet to continue racing. I don't want to piss off the officials, because it is a really nice track. I don't want to be blacklisted there.

I am gonna borrow and old motorcyle helmet from one of my biker buddies. I also need to get my nitto drag radials. They are at a friends house, 1100 miles away. He will ship them to me soon. That should help my 60' time, and help destroy my tired old T-5 transmission.

I almost forgot to add: I was shifting EXTREMELY slow on that pass to help keep the tranny intact.

Why don't you just spend the money and buy a helmet. I run mid 17's in my DD and wear a helmet on every pass, not because it's a state law, just because I care about my head.

Anywho....get that car to leave halfway decent and see if you can get into the 12's.

Seriously, get a helmet. IF you can drop $3k on a kit, you can drop $150 on a GF750 or similar open face setup.

SOMEONE BUY MY KIT -- and go fast like malice!

Could save a little money and get this...

                  http://www.genuineaccessories.com/Closeout/COTU.htm

Its not Snell SA2000 approved, but its Snell M2000 approved. Biggest difference between a SA and a M helmet is SA is fire retardent, if your car catches fire you have no fire suit anyways, and a SA helmet is made to make several hits against a roll bar instead of a few major hits like a Snell M one is.

But you don't have a Cage or roll bar.

sucks, they upped it $10, used to be $79.95 when I saved it as a favorite.

My friend has a GSXR 600, and he is into wicked custom helmet designs. He is gonna give me an old one of his with flames and dragons and stuff on it for free. It is DOT, SNELL, and whatever else certified.

WHat are some common race rules? I know that you need a helmet for 13.990 and faster. When do you need a rollcage? Is that for 11.990 and quicker? At what ET do you need a driveshaft loop? What are some other safety equipment requirements?

I have drag radials, I just have to get off of my duff and put them on the car next time. I also have a nitrous kit that will be aiding my 10psi of turbo boost. I need to get used to the boost before I use my second power adder.

If I ran the car to its full potential right now, my poor reflexes and incompetent mental abilities would cause my head to explode. I have to take baby steps.

Make sure the helmet isn't too old....the certifications expire after four or five years.

For a hardtop car, a rollbar is needed when you hit 11.49. I think a DS loop is needed at that time as well.
