well im goign with a 3.42 lsd out of a TA for the time being. after this 3.08 blows its whining now. and its starting to grind a bit. which meens two more weeks left of racing on it. then the 3.42 goes in i can tear the gears off on this cuz i have a set of extra 3.42 gears. i plan on going with a moser 9 inch with a set of 3.89's mind u have only have a 3 speed trans. and i need to keep it daily drivable. without putting a huge dent in the pocket filling it up every two days. i only burned like 4 gallons at 3400 on the eway last night going to the strip whichi s about 60 miles.

i would go with more gear. 4.10's would be nice, 4.56's would get it done right.

don't leave out a little bit of suspension work. a good torque arm, control arms, and control arm relos will help get it to the ground. traction + proper gear = ET, power just adds to your trap speed.

intake and exhaust are good places to find a little bit of power. eric home fabbed his intake, and there are a million after market exhaust kits. i would suggest stepping way up to a 3inch cat back though. if you plan to let the engine turn and do work to add any power your motor will appreciate teh extra volume very much. headers would be nice, but lookin at what is available from teh after market i would suggest looking for someone who is willing to fabricate you a set. 1 5/8 primaries into a 2.25 or 2.5 collector, shorty style, with a dual 2.25/2.5 into single 3inch y-pipe would be nice.

biggest thing you can do to make your motor happy is custom tuning. off the shelf and mail order chips are junk. get teh car data logged and have a custom chip made from that info. it is the only way to get the most out of your motor.

you will definately have to get out and practice. stick cars are harder to launch consistantly, so you will have to learn what teh car wants and then learn to force it into taking a little bit extra

teh tsp rumbler would work good for you. teh pacesetter headers and y-pipe are not that great. all of the off the shelf V6 pipes look pretty bad.

if teh data logging stuff is OBD1 it should work fine. thre may be a data point or two that comes out odd, but that is not really a big deal.

14's with a CAI and exhaust is pushing it. i would suggest going for a posi and all the gear you can get first. it will be a much better bang for teh buck than CAI and exhaust.

With a SLP CAI, underdrive pullies, H&R springs, KYB AGX shocks, 160 thermo, manual fan switch, AIT resistor mod, trans-go shift kit w/raptor servo, and some weight reduction I ran 16.2.

Tomorrow I get my BMR control arms and relocation brackets, BMR torque arm, and sphon panhard bar put in. next tuesday I get me pacesetters, highflow cat, and TSP rumbler put on. I am hoping for a 15.8. but with a 5-speed,high gears, and LSD, I sould see you going low 15's. I think if I got 3.42's and LSD I could pull a 15.5 in my automatic. but as of now I am just bench racing

If you are going to want a quick 3.4L you are going to need gears...

I did full intake/exhaust, and other mods, and only hit 15s on one run ever in my 3.4L

I put on 3.42s and LSD, and I was in the 15s...

a better exhaust and intake then mine, and some steep gears I see it possible.

gears will do it i expect to pick up about 5 more mph on my trap wheni swap my rear ends. at least 5 mph. i should be trapping then around 111-115 but it all will show when i change my lifters and intake manifold. right now ou tof hte box im pissed cuz what im traping i should be runnig faster. and i should be trapping faster to begin with. i should be at 110-115 right now even witht he 3.08 rear. but with it being an open i cant hook for crap. its worse then i ever imagined. i dont even have that firm of a 2-3 set up in the line pressure on the trans its kinda of low but possitive still shift. but yet it spins em hard when it shifts into it. once i put the rpm air gap on it and new comp lifters. ill be in the 12s no doubt. this intake manifold is robbing me of everything down low. its not the carb the carb is set up perfect. no lag no bog really. just down low im having a problem with power dont feel the car start to pull till 4000 rpm. and stop around 5900. intake starts power at 4000 and ends at 8000. rpm air gap is 1500-6500 if i remembe rright. which makes it better for me. it will match up with my cam alot better then the victor jr does. im keeping the victor junior for when igo with a bigger cam then wahts in there now which is a pretty big cam. 292 advert. 230 actual. 512 lift both intake and exhaust. 110 center lobe. its a beefy cam it lopes a bit. but i want bigger.
i want what the ls6 has so bad
6xx lift.

yewah if u hook up. i ran the nitto EPs still cant hook. i get decent wet tracton over radials i will sayt hat much. but its nothing dry traction. i cant HOok to breath i mean its sad. i launch slowly at 1100 rpm i just feather the gass till i pas the beams then i slowly nail it. then i spin.
then i hit 2nd spin for 20-30 ft. then i hit third 15-25 ft if only i could hook up just imagine how much trap speed im losing. im loosing about 10 off my trap. and im losing about 1 sec total from my spin. my 60 ft should be around 1.75-1.85 but i cnat hook up.
but yeah ur on the right track man.
i dont think ill be running a 3.73 for a while on account of i only have 3 speed trans. as it is im at 3500 at 75 mph
