• Help with these times

Alright, it was my first tim on the strip when I got these times down. Since then I've worked on launches to try to get faster. I just cant figure out why I'm running these times with these mods... Hopefully looking at my slips will help out because I'm confused.

I dont think I was spinning and I'm a decent driver as far as launching off the line and stalling a car.

R/T : .342
60' : 2.245
330 : 6.309
1/8 : 9.638
MPH : 74.76
1000 : 12.532
1/4 : 15.017 (so close  )
MPH : 90.40

R/T : .061
60' : 2.261
330 : 6.528
1/8 : 10.003
MPH : 72.49
1000 : 12.943
1/4 : 15.454
MPH : 89.56

R/T : -.040
60' : 2.42
330 : 6.351
1/8 : 9.720
MPH : 72.70
1000 : 12.628
1/4 : 15.122
MPH 90.25

I had one run where I nailed the R/T (not sure if that matters on times or not) but the car hung up in first because of tuning I think (to much increased line pressure)....

Anyways can anyone tell my why I'm running so slow. I dont remember the humidity but the temp was like 70-76. Is it my driving or what?

It usually comes down to one thing, and yours is the same as the rest. Its your 60 foot time!!!! A 2.4 60' is terrible, on that run, if your 60' was a 2.1 or lower, it would of been a 14 second run. Do you have gears? Is the tune a good tune?

EDIT: saw that run was a redlight, but still, the 60' is your problem.

Your 60' times could be alot better. You need to work on your launches. Although you cut a 2.42 short time you got a 15.12 but on your first run you cut a 2.24 short time and ran a 15.017? wierd.

Are you using drag radials? It looks as if you are spinning off the line with that 60' time. Your trapping at a decent speed for 15.0 1/4 times.

Was it really humid that day or was the baromertic pressure too high?

Need to take into account the air density and weather.

I would say your car needs to be re-tunned. Slow bottom end but good top end.

Edit: please tell me you did take out your custom box in the trunk!!! Weight reduction will get you in the 14's.

Ya, I didnt have any of the subs in.

It was dyno tuned and he's suppose to be pretty good from what everyone tells me... He's been in racing for over 25 years. If any of you know Ed Wright thats who tuned it.

The track up here is really sticky. I could barely even get the tires to power stall without getting them wet.

I have limited slip and 3.42'. So you guys think its the tune?

The tires are falken 512's. They are pretty sticky and soft.

with that trap speed your car should be capable of 60ft times in the 2.0xx range.

What cam do you have? Who did the tune? What other mods do you have?

No offense, but a 15.0 is pretty crappy for a cammed 3.8

I have the GT2 cam. It was tuned by Fast Chip (by Ed Wright) and I had all the other mods.

You dont have to tell me 15.0 sucks for a cammed 3.8. I'm ****ing embarassed of it.... lol

you really need to work on your suspension. that short time is terrible. 90mph is plenty to get you into the 14.8's if you can get that down to the 2.0 it belongs at.
223hp from a cammed engine sounds very very weak. i know the auto sapped some power, but i woudl think you should pull more than that.
if the car was only tuned on the dyno then that may be a big part of your problem. dyno tunes only hit a small representaion of conditions and load. so they are really just ballpark tunes. get some real data logging doen on teh street and strip and have some real custom tuning done. an investment in hptuners is highly recomended.

First...... smile..... you drove home in one piece!

Second.... I'm looking at your MPH... seems quite low for your RWHP and RWTQ

Do you know your curb weight? That may help w/ the low MPH concern

Temp, humid, barom psi and D/A are VERY important in guaging the car's ability to make HP and TQ.

All good points there... especially the weather its the summer not the best time for "new bests"

What I would do is work on the 60' and getting more consistant.

If you get a nice 2.0 60. you could be in the upper-mid 14s.

If i can pull 2.3 60' times with crappy open 3.08's, subs, and being completely stock....then you should be easily in the range of 2.0's.
