• ran @ track 1st time.

1st run ever. 98 Camaro V6 A4 mods listed in sig.

Timeslip:
DIAL: 15.50
R/T: .512
60: 2.375
330: 6.731
1/8: 10.315
MPH: 69.00
1000: 13.380
1/4: 15.975
MPH: 85.95

That is terrible for my car with the current mods isnt it? I thought even stock 3.8's ran 15.4-15.5's thats why i dailed a 15.5.. wtf?

I'm pretty sure my problem lies with my factory air filter, after the race i was upset with my results and i checked my air filter, the thing was crazy dirty and is already crappy to begin with. I dont even see how air couldve gotten through that thing.. I guess the self-made ram air doesnt work without a clean filter =x

What else could be some problems maybe I just need a tuneup.. but i have no misfires or anything. Also my car has 133000 mi on her.. bad bad bad.

Your 60' is pretty bad. Also, do you have 3.08s or 3.42s?

Your 60' time is pretty much bad. Shouldnt this be in the drag racing section?

Ya I really feel like my take off is lacking, in my 3.4 I could take off like a champ (never ran @ the track)..

Could the removed CAT have anything to do with it?

Could the air filter be partly my problem though?

what should my 60 time be around. im going again this coming sat. maybe i just had a bad launch. the air was so humide also, was terrible. I'm getting my K&N tomorrow, we'll see if that helps the ram air that i made at all.

I'm guessing 3.08 since i havent touched them.

I dont feel bad about losing, just the numbers were bad, the guy i was racing dailed a 14.04 and was in a cam'ed 89 el camino.

My step dad ran his purple 97 Z after he ran his 78 Z for fun.. His 97 is cmpletely stock besides HPPIII and flowmster exhaust, he ran a 14.7 and knew that wasnt right for that car. his next run he pulled a 14.04 in the Z..

go figure..

Don't guess. Check your RPO codes and find out.

If you have 3.08s then your times are right where they should be.

Also, what was the density altitude when you ran?

So getting 3.42s put in would make that much of an impact, not bad..

But when summer hits im trading my car for a Z28 and will have to say goodbye to the v6! :( and

Well my first time to the track my best time was 15.551 at 91 mph with a 2.3 60ft (carlsbad raceway aka really shizzy track) I have 3.23 gear with an m5 though. So don't expect too much better if you have an auto. Good luck
Oh yeah your dad should race my dads car

Go look at your RPO codes - GU4 = 3.08's, GU6 = 3.42's. Also...If you're not able to burn out how are you getting out of the hole that slow? Are you spinning tires at the strip and not on the street (common actually)??

How were you launching?

oh...and this really belongs in Drag Racing...but I'll let it stay here as long as it keeps somewhat tech-ish.
