what should my 60 time be around. im going again this coming sat. maybe i just had a bad launch. the air was so humide also, was terrible. I'm getting my K&N tomorrow, we'll see if that helps the ram air that i made at all.

Well your not going to pick up .4 with a new air cleaner. And really that '60 is just about right for the time you ran, for 15.9 thats a great '60, if your gonna be getting Z-28 you might as well leave the v6 as it sits now, save up for a down payment to go along with the v6, also you have to realize the more mods you do the less a dealership will take for it, i'd slap a cat back in before you sell it.

BTW i didnt read everyones post, but people say you loose torque and takeoff power with a low restiction exhaust. ITS BS. your car will have more torque as well as horsepower with an open exhaust.

Sounds like you need to do some reading and some research. http://mods.firebirdv6.com/ just read the crap out of this section and you will become very knowledged with modifications and exactly what they do. yes your 60 has everything to do with your time, but not so much your top speed. I burned out 1/8mile down the track and only lost 1 mph, but my 1/4 mile time was almost 19 seconds. practice the launches and stalls.


THESE WILL GET YOU INTO THE 14's:
3.42s and a 2800-3300 stall converter. They will keep driveability, but will knock off a few tenths in your 60ft time.

Full exhaust and cutout, gtp cam, ported intake and TB and you could be hitting 13s with alot of practice behind the wheel.

Work with the basics and the mods that will give gains, instead of 2 or 3 hp here and there. get the main mods first. exhaust, gears, high stall, cam, intake(not just a little tube and cone filter)(im talking about Porting and polishing the thing!!!)

make a little money buy the parts and paint up your old parts to sell them on ebay.

oh yeah i almost forgot, our cars are almost two tons. get your car to 2800 lbs and you will probably see 14s with your mods.

I can burnout in the water.. just not on the track, at i got a bad launch because of my stomach ache, right when i looked up all both of my warning lights were on and his came on right after, i didnt even have time to react really..

but is still wasnt a bad run for my first time, im going back this sat. it was really fun.. ;)

yea first and only time i went the track, i ran a 15.3 3 times, and look at my list of mods, i have the y87 package also (3.42 + LSD) along with the LCAs and the potenza tires i ran a 2.1 60'. But i did expect better times than that for the mods i have, but a P1780 coded trans isnt gonna help out much tho. hahha cant wait to get money to get rid of this POS trans.

How were you launching?

I cant spin the tires @ lunach on the street or at the track, my launch feels so slow before it starts climbing to the higher rpm's .. My 3.4 could launch a lot quicker then my 3.8 and it had a lower gear.. I launch by stalling @ about 1500 rpms then letting off the brake, still no spining of the tires. Hell, i can literaly stall til 2000 rpms in my car, smash the pedal and let go of the brake, and my tires wont spin what so ever, and my launch is still pretty slow. If I hold down the brake and slam the gas, it stalls to 2000 rpms and wont go any higher, thus not letting me burnout. I dont know, my SES light stays on because i have a removed cat.. i think im going to order an o2 sim soon to make it stay off..

You're car is probably not running optimally with the removed cat and the stock O2 sensor in there.

The readings it's picking up is going to change the way your car runs, not just throw a code.

The post-cat sensor has no effect on how the engine runs. Just turns on the SES to let you know the cat's not working like it should. ;)

your 60' time sucks because it was your first time at the track with the car, duh. it takes practice to get good consistant times. every car drives diffrent. you need to learn how it drives. when I first went to the track my 3.4 got all 2.4 60's. now I get consistant 2.2's just from getting practice. and I belive the stock stall converter is somewhere between 1800-2000 rpm FYI

I ran 10 flat on 1/8th stock... 3.08's... no lsd... A4...ect. Your def. gonna need an 02 sim.~I don't know how it effects anything but it's nice 2 not run a light~~ and at this point... a tune up would prolly be best if your wanting any kind of performance out of it. Also... get 2 tha track early and let your car sit 4 as long as u can... the cooler the better~stick some octane booster in thR also. g/luck

just buy a o2 sim its a lot cheaper then getting a hole new cat im have the same problems ses light comes on because my cat is gutted now i know why i didnt run that well
