    Ran my car for the first time last week....and here was my best slip.

    Dial: 16.00
    R/T: .247
    60': 2.397
    330: 6.727
    1/8: 10.313
    MPH: 68.87
    1000: 13.372
    1/4: 15.975
    MPH: 85.95

    This was with 100 lbs. of stereo equipment in the back...over a 1/2 tank of gas....and it was about 85 degrees with no wind, and engine temp never below 180.

    Tomorrow..ill be running minus about 80 lbs of stereo equipment...and with around 1/8 tank of gas, and it will be around 70 and cloudy. Any advice? Anything i should focus on? My guestimate is that ill run a 15.7 or so at around 87, if i stick the launch. Oh yeah, and the oil hasent been changed in like....5,000 miles...but oh well.... :(

    u should be slapped. my car has about 450 miles on it. ive changed the oil at least 8 times.

      but yeah good luck. stick the launch and shift it at the rigth times. i felt bad when i ran my truck in florida at orlando speedowrld. only ran 16 flat. got it home ran 15 flat did nothing but spin half way down i hook for a sweet *** reaction time but after i pass them beams its over for me. now the car is a dif storry i cant hook to save my life. and the car has about 450-700 miles on the engine i dont know i disconnected the spedo cuz it was reading wrong. and adding undone miles to the odo.

        Yeah....its unlike me to not change the oil on time. Im usually a nazi when it comes to maintenence. But back on topic....

        Just an hour ago - removed the subs....cleaned out air filter, checked fluids and random stuff....and i lowered my air pressure in my tires. Last weekend i ran them at 44 PSI all-around. I just let the back ones down to 31 and left the fronts at 44. Does that seem sufficient if im just barely spinning?

          Thats a good pressure setting, if you were just barely spinning with 44, you can probably try a little higher.

          Its best to run as much pressure as possible without spinning and still launching hard.

          If you jsut barely spin at 44 psi go to 35-37, and work your way down till it feels good and don't really go below 28ish.

            Im allowing for the major change in temperature im seeing today also. It was 85 when i was spinning at 44PSI....and today it will be only 70ish...if that.

              Well...just got back from the track. So many pro stocks were blowing up...it was insane. They must have spent over an hour alone just cleaning up after those POS. Only got 3 runs in in 2 hours. Heres my slip.

              Weather - 71 degrees...overcast/light rain no wind

              Removed subs + 1/4 tank of gas

              R/T: .420
              60': 2.353
              330': 6.632
              1/8: 10.193
              MPH: 69.26
              1000: 13.245
              1/4: 15.850
              MPH: 86.01

                u should actually ideally be running around 32 on teh streets but u prolly get better milage at 44. every tire i have at 30psi when i run at the track my fronts get bumped to 50. my rears down to 22.
                i do a nice burnout on street tires (not to warm them up) but to clean off the fresh tread cuz its uneven from being inflated at 30 psi and now being dropped so more tread is on the pavement. other wise u will definately spin out of hte hole just try running 28psi. do a nice burnout. (a nice burnout means u have to whipe the rubber off the fenders that means u cleaned the uneven tread off mainly not only evening it out but heating the tires up if they are street it helps not muchb ut it does)
                just try adjusting ur pressure and ur launch RPMs. i roll off the line cuz i wont hook up even if moses was in my car. i then proceed to slowly raise the rpms to 3500 from a roll then i nail it then is pin. then i shif t at 6200 then i spin. then i shift at 6000 spin.
                cross the beams around 4200 at 105 when i should be running around 110 115.
                if i could only get a good 60ft. i run around 2.1 and 2.2 i did have a 5 sec 60ft but i red lighted let the tiburan go after i passed the beams let him get the green he went.
                then i gave him his 60 ft. i gunned it first time i experenced wheel hop with this suspension. it was disapointing. but i go spinning through to a 5 sec 60ft. then i hit the 330 about 1 car now behind hte tiburan. then we hit the 1/8th im now at his nose. we hit the 100ft im a car ahead. we hit the trap i run a 15 flat at 105.8 and he runs a 15.7 at 87 mph.
                it was funy cuz i short shifted allt eh gears around 4400.

                  I ran that new time STILL getting spin off the line. Not a huge spin, but a nice little screach. I know i can hit those 15.7's with more practice, and ive got those sh*tty open 3.08's. Would anyone argue that my first mod should be 3.42's and LSD?

                    You need to drop the pressure, if you still ran 44 psi...


                    If its actually colder, you are more likely to spin. Hot tracks grip ALOT better then cooler ones. Also potentially your car is makeing a few more HP in cooler weather.

                    Personally I think 22 psi is too low for street tires, but I always say do what works for your car maybe that is it.

                    But if your at 44 psi, YOU NEED TO DROP IT. I have run 44 PSI at autocrosses and that was too high.

                    Go do a burnout at 44 psi, then go do a burnout at 32 psi. Measure the width of the rubber, and see which one makes "more contact" with the ground.

                      No, i ran the backs at 32 PSI this time. With the weather being colder...it seemed like they just canceled each other out, and im still getting that spin. Its was still 70's...which isnt exactly cold, but its cooler. Ill just have to keep jacking around with the pressure until i find a happy medium.

                        these cars love gear. give it what it wants. 4.10's work perfect, 3.73's is the absolute lowest you shoudl even consider.
                        another mod you shoudl look at early on is a good torque arm. teh stocker is a stamped POS. something tubular along the lines of teh edelbrock/random tech/bmr bolt in ones helps a lot. i like the bmr unit because it is available in chromoly [img]smile.gif[/img]

                          you can also run teh fronts a bit higher. since drag racing is such a short duration the air in the tires doesn't heat up enough to do any damage to the tire. it is perfectly reasonable to run the fronts at 60psi at the track. it will help teh car get roling a lot easier and lowers rolling resistance down track. so you gain from it at both ends of the 1/4 mile [img]smile.gif[/img]

                            I think your ET's are pretty damn good for your mph.

                            Paly around w/ tire psi... keep hood open between rounds.... full tune up (plugs, wires.... oil!!)

                            And practice!
