first thing to do is get yourself staged properly.
you want teh car as shallow in the beams as possible and you want it there consistantly.
pull forward slowly until you turn on the top set of lights, then stop. then, using the gas and brake at the same time, creep the car forward very very softly until the second set of lights just comes on and stop.
you will also want to practice with how the car wants to be launched. push down hard on the brakes and rev it to different spots before you launch. whichever rpm creates the best 60ft is your answer.
the big thing is to be consistant. if you can replicate all the things you do leading up to the launch it will be easier to see improvements from changes and easier to spot areas that need improvement in the future.

            Practice.

            That is key.
            With practice you can:
            read the track
know what 1 psi diff does in a tire
know X amount of gas affects traction
            launch rpm affects 60 ft's

Check all the threads with "!" in them

you can also try flashing the converter..i only do this if the track is prepped REALLY well (otherwise i just stall to about 2K rpms)..basically you just stall to a couple hundred rpms above idle..then when you launch just floor it..if done correctly it can give you a launch at a higher rpm..track prep has to be really good and you'd probably want a set of drag radials

I'd hold off on the drag radials...

Just practice it... hold gas, hold brake, let off at an rpmy that suits you.

maybe put the rears ~28 psi, Drive around the water, definitley spin them a bit to get the dirt off your tires. A few times and you should start getting a feel for it.

I wouldn't suggest throwing money at the car right away.

Yup, people don't realize how much they can learn/ go quicker.... with just practice.
