GMHTP did a test on that...the LS1 in the Fbody, in this case, a Trans Am, actually made about 5 more rwhp. Why? Because the Corvette uses a rear transaxle setup and IRS, which causes a slightly higher parasitic power loss. It will eat an Fbody alive because it weighs 2-350 lbs less.

and 450rwtq on a 100 shot of nitrous? on that, as well as on finding a 4L60E or T5 that will hold up that much tq.

boy did i learn this the hard way....the car has to be able to take the power and torque too..suspension, tires, tranny, etc..it should be nicely tuned too..for nitrous..on pretty much the stock tune i had to run a 150 dry shot in order to run 13.4s and beat a lot of LS1s..a 100 dry shot only got m low 14s..remember i only run 15.6 NA though..you may have better luck with a wet kit..but thats just my .02 on my experience with the dry system

So all in all with my current set up, intake, catback, thermo, and the hypertech programmer for the shift kit.(advanced timing not used) Will I have a good setup with a wet 75 shot and sometimes doing a 100 shot of n2o. Im under the impression its ok to do 50% of what the car already makes. Or will I just break everything and look retarded??
Why hop up a V6, cuz $724 a month for insurance is a little steep.

Im not trying to blow away a LS1 just wondering how I would look racing one. Most LS1 owners are gonna have them hopped up so theres no way I would seriously line up with one.

with a wet 100 shot you should be able to keep up with a basically stock LS1..however..like we always say with nitrous..be prepared to throw a grenade at your engine..understand the risks and be prepared should something go wrong

Dude don't put nitrous on your car...

stay on the board a little bit and read up and learn more.

Your using "ricer math" where such and such mod adds 5hp, and I have 215, so now I have 220 hp.

doesn't work that way with cars.

do some small bolt ons, run your car at the track see how it does, then go from there to see what "your"(every car is different) needs to make it faster.

then set it up for nitrous.

and yes, a nicely tuned and juiced v6 can beat a stock ls1...

also if you set a car up right, a car with less hp can beat a car with more.

start small, learn how to drive...once you get your car to ~14.3-14.4 NA you'll know you can hang with stock ls1's with 100 shot...but it'll take you a while to get to that # NA...im thinking gears, converter and weightloss will get you as close as you'll get...then get you some nawz & it should be able to push you into the low 13's high 12's.

Not taking the side of the nitroused v6's but I sure would like to know what stock ls1's you guys have seen? I have to been to 4 local dyno days and I haven't seen a stock one put down more the 285. Assuming just a 15% loss at 350 on the motor thats only 297 to the wheels. Most "STOCK" cars average about 18 to 20% even vettes and vipers. But with "proper traction" a 100 shot on a y86 v6 should do damn close to beating a ls1. With just a cia, catback, suspension and sticky tires I ran 8.3 in the eigth, and I'm quite sure that is faster than a "STOCK" ls1.

A stock LS1, depending on transmission, can pull STOCK 8.5 - 9.0 at the track in the 1/8th.

I ran a best of 8.8 stock in the TA, 8.4x in the Z28 (modded). The only real difference though, honestly, is the LS1 will keep pulling up top.

edit: I'm NOT taking sides here with the LS1 of Nitroused 6. It does seem though that an all motor 300hp seems to pull better than a nitroused 300hp. Maybe that's just crazy talk, but it could be the transmission helping out too. I remember the gearing in my V6 sucked.

And the fact that LS1 won't run out of power, unlike a bottle that needs refilling every so often.
