    Questions about strip

    I want to go to a strip, not to race but just to get my 1/4 mile time. Do a lot of stock cars go to strips just to get their times?

    If I run with another car will they put me next to another car like mine (pretty much stock)? I don’t want to be completely embarrassed running next to a 12 second car

    tones of people that are stock go just to get times. thats what most people are there to do. at my track, they try to guess and put you next to someone of the same calibur but there are times i have been put next to -10 sec cars

      I was looking around on google for quarter mile tracks located in PA and there are only a couple with stock car classes that I could find. The closest was around 90 miles away. Is there a database of strips that anybody knows of?

        you dont have to do a class. just go to a track on a test and tune night. thats for all people wanting to run. weather is a dragster or a 24sec truck

            okay.. found one a little bit closer (57 miles) thanks for the info. I am going to take off work nov 5th to get a run in at maple grove

                yeah just go to test and tune... you are likely half assed randomly lined up with other cars


                they will try to pair you up somewhat evenly for the most part.

                I have run agains 22 second trucks and I have run against 10 second cars.


                generally at my track it should be 13.99 and quicker run together. and 14.00+ run to gether but people go in all the lanes.

                  Hrm, Maple Grove eh? I was planning on doing Mason-Dixon in MD on the 5th but that's not that far away that I couldn't swing up there instead. Anyone else up for it?

                      Ya, make sure to go to test and tune for sure. And be sure when they open for it to.

                        Yeah, I'm definitely available for the 5th and I do want to get to the strip, do you have any details about the track?

                        Where's Ian at? I might be able to talk him into going.

                          Yeah, they have a website... http://www.maplegroveraceway.com/eventschedule.asp ... I just called them today and asked what time they will be open on Nov. 5th, the track opens at 9am and the races start at 10-4pm. Hope to see you there, its the last test&tune of the season

                          Anybody have any last minute tips that could help me increase my time?

                            Yank a spark plug wire, disconnect the battery and/or pee in the gas tank. All are good ways to increase your time. LOL

                              yeah, I mean other tips, such as weight reduction, I know removing the spare tire will help some. psi in tires... stuff like that
