  • Never drag raced before....

I've never drag raced before or even ran my car real hard....max of like 4500 rpms, had a couple questions I hoped some people could answer:

    1) I have an auto, does that mean I can just go in OD and just completely floor it without hurting the tranny? I don't wanna redline it or anything bad.

    2) If I go to a track are there lots of people to help you out for your first time or maybe like a class to teach you some of the basics? ie: launching and how not to run into a wall? lol

    3) What's the average cost to do a run or two at a track at on off night...I'm sure like fri/sat are probly pretty busy..what about like a weds or thurs night possibly?

Yeah, but for your $15 you only get to go half as far. ;)

              atco is like $13...

i got talking to people in the staging lanes, picked up a bunch of good tips. just make sure to be outgoing, introduce yourself to people, you will learn a lot!

as far as running into a wall.... you wont. the fastest you will get up to will be less than 90 mph probably, which really isnt that much. just go straight, and you wont have any problems.

to launch, hold the brake, press lightly on the gas. get it up to 1700 or 1800 rpms. when you see the 3rd orange light, let off the brake, ease into the gas. you dont want to floor it, but you still want to go fast, just experiment with it.

so you go on the third orange light? not a green light? Gonna watch some vids to try and get a feel for that then.

because the light tree is all about reaction time..you launch on the last orange because by the time your car gets up and goes off the line the time will start and you'll be closer to that perfect .000 reaction time..but reaction time isnt used at all in test & tune..you could sit at the green for 5 seconds before you launch and still get an accurate 1/4 time..so just focus on practicing the launch and watching your tire pressure..try to get some good 60 foots
