• Ran some G-tech times

Well, the car club I'm in has a G tech and I borrowed it for a bit this afternoon to see what kinda times it would give me.

I made three runs. The first was a 16.8 1/4, the second was a 16.3, and the third was a 15.86. I had more than half a tank, a friend in the seat, and me driving. The car is running some generic street tires.

Here's some numbers from the 15.86:

60': 2.36
0-60: 7.9
1/4: 15.86
MPH: 88

That 60' was with me dumping the clutch at 3500, spinning a bit, and then hooking and bogging. I can easily do better than that. We're gonna go out again tonight.

I was really expecting to run a better time than that with my mods. Do these numbers look consistent with each other? Also, no matter how many times we recalibrated the meter, the rpm sensor refused to work. Would this affect the readings it gave? Anyone else ever have these problems?

Edit: I forot to mention, this was in the middle of New Mexico, approximately 5,000 ft above sea level.

Did you weigh your car with you and your friend in it? Or did you just guess?

I found my Gtech to be very consistent with my track runs when using an accurate weight.

No, I didn't weigh it. We estimated the weight at about 3400 lbs. But apparently, the entered weight doesn't actually affect the quarter mile it gives you according to the G tech documentation. It uses the built in accelerometers with a bit of physics to calculate all the 1/4 data. The only thing the weight is for is estimating your power, and I didn't even pay attention to that.

I actually ran a couple more times last night and got much better launches.

Here's the best time from last night:

60': 2.259s
330 ft: 6.404s
1/8: 9.865s
1/8 mph: 72.29 mph
1000 ft: 12.825s
1/4: 15.291s
1/4 mph: 92.56 mph
0-60: 6.888s

This 60' was with a launch at 4,000 rpm and basically zero wheel spin. I think I could get it even further down to a 2.1x.

I realize that this isn't the actual track, but please consider it as close guys, and tell me what these times would mean if they *were* off of an actual timeslip.

even if the times arent real you can still see that you are making good improvements

This is the new one, I belive it's the "Pro Pass" model. It has a pretty nice software suite too.

Acceleration tests don't do weight. Well, atleast for the old model.

But it's all about calibration. It has to be perfectly level, and you have to run on a level road. All my gtech runs have been +/- .1 on my times.

I am considering buying a G-tech. My dad wants to pay 1/2 and share it so he can use it on his vette and his Chevelle. If I got it and used it, would the numbers be worthy of putting on my sig or is that not accurate enough?
