• Thinking of hitting local SCCA AutoX this Sunday, any tips?

At one of the local big arse parking lots the SCCA is setting up the road cones for an event this Sunday. I've never been AutoXing before or anything of the like.
I know are some sort of rankings as to your mods... well, am I screwed? Heres suspension mods:
275/40/17 Goodyear F1 all around
1LE front and rear sways
Hotchkis SFCs
Zex LSD

Any tips? Should I just go insane? Just take the lil corners as fast a possible? Can I knock over cones?

Thanks for any input

Pump up the tire pressure (but ask what other camaros are running). You'll have a blast. Got a helmet already? If not, they have some loaners.
Have fun have fun have fun. Spin some. You'll be hooked.

My first is saturday.

An amazing number of people disqualify all 3 runs their first autocross by losing the course. Can be discouraging. Study the map; walk the track if possible. Watch other people. I'd take it easy the first time to be sure you have the track down, and then go for it.

The general rule is slow in to the corner and fast out. He who gets his car positioned right and on the gas earliest tends to win.

Yeah, your mods will put you in a class with some very fast cars. No big deal, since it will take you a while to be competitive as a driver anyway.

I went!

WHAT A FRIGGIN BLAST! I'm in love with AutoX! I got a DNF 2/3 times because of one damn corner that I would just go straight through because it was crappily marked but nonetheless, I had the time of my life. So much more fun than drag racing.

I before didn't know what to do in regards to shocks/springs, but now I want to get the best setup for handling! Any suggestions out there?

1LE shocks/springs?

Edelbrock IAS shocks/complimentary springs?

Eibach ProKit/ ? ?

hehe problem with autocrossing as soon as you finish you start looking up suspensin stuff.

First 2 times I hit the course perfect. last itme the course was pretty easy, but I missed a gate once and another time i swerved to hard to get the gate, but I missed it and spun out . lots of fun though.

did they have a place set up in springfield? i didn't know they did anything like that around here. where do you drag? are there any strips around there? i never really looked into it, i got my car not long before i left for college. and i think there's 1 strip in AR and it's only 1/8. but that'd give me something to do over summer

Whiteshark -
You're from fayetville? My grandma lives in Bella Vista, I plan on going down there a few times during the summer as well

As for SCCA and drags: Yep! There is a new baseball park here with a giant parking lot w/ new light posts. THey'll be holding the SCCA events there for the rest of the summer. If you like, send me an e-mail cbeasley@drury.edu and I'll throw you a schedule.
As for drags, yep! There's a strip about 20 minutes from me and while it's mainly 1/8th mile, starting in april and throughout whole summer they have 1/4 on Friday night :)

Let me know if you ever wunna come have some fun up here at either place.

Ah, Cool.

I said parking lot with "new" light posts. I meant "without" light posts.

The dragstrip is in Rogersville.

Let me know.
