The modification encyclopedia would be a great place to start looking and getting info on what to do. I read this a while back and it helps out quite a to give you an idea of what does what and what are quality parts.

This all depends. If you know you want drag performance, then say it. Same with autox. Good starter upgrades would be subframe connectors. They help with chassis rigidity which is needed for autox and drag racing. Next would be rear control arms w/ upgraded bushings. These also help with cornering and drag racing. can't help any more than that cuz I don't know whay you are wanting to do with it.

Get all the 1LE parts. See the section in the Technical Database on "1LE". 1LE is the factory "Autocross Package" developed for SCCA racing.

ok, start with a shock tower brace to stiffen the front for cornering and braking, subframe connectors welded on next, 1LE swaybars, poly/1LE bushings for everything you can, lca's, torque arm, adj. panhard rod, k-member, upper/lower a arms, full coil over kit.

Do this and you'll get destroyed in SCCA. Illegal for Stock or Street Prepared.

Don't dare do anything at all to your car, especailly weld-on things, unless you have read and thoroughly understand how many (2) classes you'll be moved up for SFCs (3 up for cross-braced ones), for STBs (1?), for an intake (1), for a rear sway bar (1) ... LCAs affect handling like a mother -- be careful in what you choose. No poly for RR, no rubber for DR. In autoX, the best thing you can do is get seat time. Eat it, really, and it'll then improve your times. To stay stock, you can play with brake pads, shocks, tires, and exhaust. Go up to Street Prepared (ESP) and get an intake, sway bars, STB, and a bunch of other things.
                    Good luck!

                      yes read the rule book.

some places differ, I know SCCA you cannot get subframe connectrs. But at a local autcrossingclub they have 3 classes, stock, nothing not even a k$n drop in filter. then prepared, which is everythng bolt on you can fit, but the internal of the motor is stock, no pistons, cams, porting. And race which is anyhting goes.

Only the subframe connectors, everything else is still legal. The SFCs put you in the Street Modified class, though I'm going to see if they'll allow me to still run in ESP with mine.

The most important thing is _just to start autocrossing_, not to set up the car. Don't worry about mods until you have run a couple of autocrosses, made some acquaintances, and gotten a copy of the rule book. You'll find it much easier to decide on mods once you have done that.

Better yet would be to also educate yourself on suspension through books such as "How To Make your Car Handle."

You'll get a lot of suggestions on the net, some good, some bad. While they're a piece of the puzzle, you'll need a basis to make your own decisions.
