Just curious to see who participates in SCCA's Solo-II racing. What class do you run in & what mods do you have? Also, how do your times compare to other cars (and what else is usually in your class)? I went out to my first Solo-II event yesterday, just watched for a few minutes though. I'm interested in getting out & seeing how I fare. Any input would be appreciated.

Just go do it. Don't worry about class (but hold off on any new mods until you check the rulebook). Don't worry about doing well.
There are cars and competition that will be very tough. You could drive yourself nuts thinking about how to deal with them, with not enough knowledge. Do it and the knowledge will come much faster.2000 Firebird convert, chameleon/tan, M5, Y87, TCS, BMR tower brace and panhard, KBDD sfcs, 245/50-16 GSCs

I'm not worried about how well I'll do, I was just curious as to what usually gets classed w/V6 F-bodies that don't have alot of suspension work performed on them. I also want to get out there on something other than these stock Goodyear's ;)2001 Onyx Black Camaro M5-Totalled
2005 Ford F150 XLT 5.4L

\"To make peace, prepare for war.\"

I agree, I refuse to AutoX on Goodyear GAs - these things are the worst tires on the planet!
They have a lot of AutoX down here at Bronson field on the last sunday of every month - I meant to go someday but now I'm going to California.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

"I was just curious as to what usually gets classed w/V6 F-bodies that don't have alot of suspension work performed on them."
So go see :D . You'd be surprised how little suspension work will boot you out of the stock classes. General rules of thumb - tires, shocks, stb, bigger front sway - OK. sfcs, wider or different diameter wheels, rear sway, lcas, Panhard - puts you in modified classes with serious machinery.

I still think just getting out there is the big deal, but... Don't go halfway. Get a set of autocross wheels (SLP takeoffs are pretty cheap) and autocross tires.

Eagle GAs are fine -- they're what I run up front. Don't worry about being on the pace your first few events (or the first year, at that).
GS for all V6's with Cat-back, other small mods
STX (slightly illegal with a tire over 225) will accomodate virtually ANY mods (allows all SP mods afaik)
ESP if someone *****es at you about the tires
SM if you supercharge or add SFCs.
My next event is sunday, STX-N.

I'm also interested, but I'm in the Finger Lakes region and would race around Rochester, NY. The first race I'm looking to be a part of is in July.
The cars that are in our class though, are preety lame I must say.Red \'99 3.8
Induction: SLP Cold Air Intake, K&N Air Filter, Whisper Lid
Ignition: Taylor Spiro-Pro Wires, Bosch Platinum 2 Plugs
Suspension: Power Slot Rotors, Hawk HPS Pads, Mille Miglia MM11-2 18x9, Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 245/40-18
