Are they 712's? No. KD's? No. KDW's? No. F1's? No. 555RII's? No. But they're $56 each, eat me. Good enough all around tire for me. (Autocross mainly, starting to drag race)

Check your local shops, local places can get them for about $5 more a tire, but you do not have to pay shipping.

My opinion form autocrossing... Is get a spare set of wheels and some Kuhmo v700 victo racers. From what I hear they are great on f-bodies, and from my expereince... daily street tires, and autocrossing tires do no mix, they get torn up quickly.

i have the Kumho 712s. i like them so much, i've convinced my police chief to put them on my patrol car. when i'm not paying for them, tires are my peeve at work so that's saying a lot.

When I get done with my car, I plan on going to some kind of driving school.

The autocross I went to, they had an instructor that would ride with you if you wanted to and give you pointers.

school are great and worth the money.. most of the clubs in my area sponcer schools that are run by the local know it alls.. and they are pretty cheap.. and you get alot of seat time..

if you cant find a club.. look into your local branch PCA (Porsche club of amarica).. alot of them run auto-x's and have classes.. some times the are evil and wont let non-porsches in on their fun.. other clubs could care less, and are just about having a good time!

          good luck with the tires..

I really hate my 712's.. but i am spoiled (re730's)..

The only school I know of in central kansas is the evolution school. It comes to my town every april. I already have my foot in the door for that one. All the old experienced autocrossers in my SCCA region are happy to ride with me and teach me stuff, but they all drive miatas. Only one guy has a camaro and it is an 89 iroc. Truth be told, he really isn't a better driver than me. All the vette drivers are dicks. They won't give us young bloods the time of day out on the track.

So? Pretty much everything they know will apply to you.

Actually a late model Miata is amazingly like our cars. Similar power/weight, similar cornering (which car is better will depend on tires), rear wheel drive. The big difference in autocross is their very short wheelbase, which is a huge advantage in the tight stuff.

No disrespect to miatas (since they win everything!). I didn't realize we had similar cars. I will start paying more attention to those guys.
