I know there are some guys here who live in witchita, Hutch, and Ft. Riley. Get your a$$es to salina 10am sunday morning, july 13 for our solo II autox. We have one of the best tracks in the midwest. I am tired of being the only v6 fbody who has the nuts to compete in anything. Plus, I want to show all the scads of miata guys, that american cars can run with the best.

Damn. Looking up June results, the new PAX factor would have moved me from 10/13 in all of Novice to 2/13, and middle of the pack once I break out of Novice to Street Tire.
And I haven't touched the suspension yet :)

I am in STX class. I am not sure if I am legal though, I havent read the rulebook in a while and I have done a fair amount of mods.

You can do a whole lot in STX. Exhaust, rear sways, shocks, springs, seats, induction mods, reprogramming. I don't remember about cams though, but that doesn't apply to me anyway. Might be limited to port-matching rather than porting.
The main hold-back is tires and wheels. 8" max width on the wheels, 245mm max on the tires. And no racing compounds.
Easy on the seats, John. There was a debate raging about whether to include fixed seats -- as far as I remember, only seats that recline are allowed. Nixes all the racing seats ...
Your primary STX competition will be older M3's, WRX's, and new Mini's. All of which will be faster than you, so don't worry!

Yeah, I wanted to keep the reclining, and also the flip-forward feature, since I have a 4-year old and a 6-year old.. So I got a pair of Corbeau CR1 seats and some harnesses. All the commotion about the seat types ends up not affecting me.
I just wanted something more secure and that would support the use of a harness. (also I found out they can shave the seat bottom by 1" at the factory, which should make it so I can wear my helmet with the t-tops in, which is more than I can say for my stock seats) And the new seats won't have that forward curve to them that makes me feel hunched over with the stock seats.
Unfortunately the seats won't arrive here in time to install them before my Evolution class on Saturday morning...
I'm taking a Phase 1, Phase 2 combo, and they allowed only 6 students for 3 instructors, so dang near one-on-one instruction!!
For STX everything is legal outside of modding the engine internals/headers, forced induction (on stock n/a cars), removing the seats/modifying them (i.e. racing seats or harnesses). Also, in STX the max is 7" on wheel width, but as long as you aren't past 245, they usually could care less (I run STX).
The good thing about STX though is once you get your suspension mods in, you can keep up with cars up to 50hp higher than you. The only person to beat me in STX at the last races was a TT 3000gt (I feel he was misclassed into STX). I managed to beat out a WRX, dodge stealth awd, and a few others, even beat out a third gen v8 Camaro
Our cars have some insane balance (51/49) and with our wider bodies, running 245 tires with a modded suspsension gives us some insane grip.
I plan to eventually run street mod (SM) since I plan to put a cam in sometime next year and maybe headers too.

If I get a big cam, that will change me to a different class right?
