• What are your guy's thoughts on cheap nice street tires?

what do you reccomend for autocross only tires?

they ahve to be street radials, no victo racers...

and affordable... I have a set of spare rims now, and last event I ran on kuhmo 712s, they were awesome but I also upgraded to 275/40/17 so its alot more tire.

But these are my street tires and not looking to tear them up on the autocross too much.

so what od you recocmend for a 16X8, any profile is good, the lower the better.

I am looking at street tires...

thanks...

711s, I think I paid $56 a tire or something like that. Or someone's GSCs on T/O rims -- should be able to find for $200 or so for 4 with tires. But please, stop driving on those bald ones!

For street autocross tires available in the stock 245/50-16 size, I'd recommend (from best to worst):

Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP
BFG KDW (they don't have the KD in that size)Yokohama AVS ES100
Kumho 712 (they'll stick better than the 711's)

One word on the Kumho - after driving a set bald in 6 months (two events/month plus Evolution school), their grip definately decreased as they've worn down.

UPS is delivering me a set of Centerline 17x8 rims Monday, and then Discount tire is hooking me up with Falken Azenis Sports for them. From people who've done a switch from 712-level to the Azenis, it's good for at least 1-2 seconds on a 60 second course. I might try the Kumho MX after these. I just didn't like the street tire choices in our stock size.

17x8 Azenis are a very very nice way to fit in the 245 rule of STX.

I've heard good things about the Azeni's and the Toyo RA1's. Don't know about the sizes though...

In order of best dry traction for autocrossing:

KD = dry
KDW = dry/wet
KDWS = all season, dry/wet/snow
