I'll be going to my first auto-x of the season sunday, and I figured I'd try playing the the air pressure this time. Whats a good tire pressure for 245/50/16 street tires?

I've had the best results running around 37psi front and 34-45 psi in the rear on mine.

The guys putting down more power (V8) say they run the rears at anywhere from 28-32. They tend to go just a tad slower around the curves, and start rolling on the throttle sooner, so their exit speed is higher and they carry that extra speed through to the next corner. The lower pressure lets them get heavy on the throttle without break-away...

Advice: Don't start messing with your swaybars or you'll be messing with your tire pressure! Which, of course, is very important, and if you run out of pressure-play-room, you'll be very upset with your suspension "upgrades".

As John said, high up front and low out back, just how much is something you get to figure out on your own.

Edit: I just read your mod list. You might be OK with those bars, provided you actually have the 19mm and not the 21mm. With the 32/21's I had to run 40 psi / 28 psi in the tires, but the 32/19's should be much less oversteer happy.

With the same sways, I generally ran 38/32.

Use the shoe polish trick for a good rough estimate, or borrow a tire pyrometer for a much better look.
