I am very interested in getting into it. I was talking to a guy down the hall that belongs to BMWSSCA, and he really got me hooked.

Before I can do anything, I need to finish my engine mods. :-(

Not neccesarily... autocrossing is 70% driver, 30% car...

There are classes form bone stock to fully race prepped you get put in with people at your same car level...

Its alot of fun, just go out and do it, in any car its fun and no one ever expects good times there first times out, because experience makes a huge difference in it. Generally they lump all the novices together in one group.

Do you recommend taking a class first? Or just go out and do it? Which group do you go with, SCCA?

I am only 45 mins away from Limerock. I will have to see when the SCCA is there next.

I saw just go out... Try and meet up with the F-body guys see if they can give you some tips...

Your first couple events YOU WILL SUCK! but don't be discourage, I mean very rarely people are good at things the first time they do it.

              </font>
I've been autocrossing for nearly four years and it's been lots of fun. Camaro (SM class) is currently down so I ran the last event with my Extended Tacoma... about 4 seconds slower than the Camaro is but still fun to run and my raw times end up faster than almost half of the sportscars usually.

Have attended one track weekend with the camaro so far and that was a blast! Would like to attend an HPDE weekend with the Tacoma too, though the brake system would have to seriously be upgraded for that and I'm kinda leary of running without minimal protection (I at least have a roll-bar in the camaro). Once the camaro is up again I plan on at least two more track weekends this year.

Surpsingly my Kuhmos 712s are holding up, they are harder then the concret i race on but I have a good 12 events on them and I generally get made fun of by the annoucners for all my tire noise

But I will say when I did a road course, I had them screaming the whole time and I honestly think I noticed a visual difference in their depth...

so I slapped my drag racing wheels and used tires on for awhile of street driving, to counter set tire wear.

Unless you are talking about race tires which are needed to be competitive... Yeah those are rediculous.

12 Events is pretty impressive. What psi do you run them at? I just bought an extra set of rims so I'll now be racing on the 712's.

I run them on the street, and at autocrosses... I think they have like 16k mileson them too...

The problem is they are good at first then they get heat cycled a bit and get kinda hard and don't grip as good as they used to.

I am still playing with pressures, but I run 275/40/17 and 38psi up front and 40-42ish in the rear. But I sometimes vary it a little bit.

Yeah, I've been getting more interested in autocross lately. But I wouldnt have the first clue of how to prep my car, what to check, etc. at an event. Maybe i'll set some cones up in an empty parking lot so it would be me vs. me, I'll always win!!!

make sure you have all your lugs... and your battery is secure and your car is cleaned out(nothing flopping around inside of it.

Start racing then look into setting up your car.
