Securing the battery

I have two clips that hold the base of the battery down. It is secure, i.e. it does not move. Do I need to do anything more, like get a strap over it?

As long as the clips are in good shape and the battery doesn't move then it should be fine. When I bought my camaro the battery clips were broken, so I had to fab up a mounting system to secure the battery in.

If yours is the same as my '01, the front clip is just an extension off the coolant overflow bottle, and will snap off after a year or so of regular autocrossing.

I just went to Ace, bought that steel strip with the holes punched down the center, and made it into a hold-down running from the back bracket, up and over the battery, and held under the existing bolt on the frame piece in front of the battery. Used some foam for cushioning and insulation.

That is exactly what I was going to do if the clips I had were not good enough.

did the same thing....work good too, just dont tighten it too much, or it'll pull your headlight out of alignment.
