After living here for about a year I finally got around to going to an autocross up here. It was different to say the least. This was a club so they didn't follow SCCA rules (like classes). It was pretty much "run what you brung" and times were adjusted on a handicap system. It seemed like a good idea until you realized that people just throw a **** load of money at their cars. You pretty much had to show up in a highly modified EVO or STi to be competetive. My friend compared it to an arms race. He said an EVO did really well one event and the next event there were about 5 more brand new EVOs.
I don't really care about winning so I had a good time anyway and it was cool seeing all the nice cars. Lots of Porches, about 5 Shelby Cobras, RX-7s, EVOs, STis, badass cammed Z06, C6, etc. I wasn't representing F-bodys though because my car was getting a pinion bearing replaced. I showed up in a miata, which is always fun.
