I have been racing at the track for the past 3 weeks and i have been launching in 1st and i have managed a 2.2 60ft time and 15.7. Is this the best gear to launch an auto?

I achieved my 2.1 with basically no mods and street tires launching at 1500rpms in OD -

its probably better and safer to be in OD2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC! DONT feed the Trolls!Comment

It's an auto..... it launches no matter what in 1st gear (unless by some odd reason you used the 2nd gear button)

the only car I know of that changed when you took it out of OD was my 95' sts, in OD it shifted at caution, in D it shifted at Red, but the maro never did that, you can leave it in D just so when you get to the end of the track it'll slow itself down with compression.

Like everyone said. leave it in OD or D...
I don't think it makes a difference on f-bodies but I know on other GM cars, putting it in D instead of OD, will turn off TCS, and will ride the rpms out a little more.

Just a dumb question, but what is the main Dif between D and OD?

D goes up to 3rd stays in 3rd, while OD shifts from 3rd to the overdrive gear for improved gas mileage.
