  • So what are the odds that....

my tires might be spinning on my shifts at the track?

32 psi, quick burnout, they are 245s/50/16s yokohamas, not a great rubber but not the worst. And they have alot of tread.

1-2 shift, rpms just sit, then seem to catch and rise, same on the 2-3 shift.

The tail stays straight no issues. No noise, just the rpms sitting then going up.

I assumed clutch slipping issues, but its a spec2 all new EVERYTHING in the last 6k or so miles.... And I have 0 issues on the road, bark, chirp, and sometimes "spin" the tires on the 1-2 shift on the road. Did it on the way there, did it on the way back.

At this point I am just stumped. The idea that I am spinning the tires on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift at the track seems rediculous to me.

    It can def occur.

Try running with 30 psi... make a couple passes

Then try with 28 psi... make a couple passes.

Pay attention to the whole entire timeslip and see if there are any gains/ losses throughout it

I do run 32 psi in the rear. If I go back to the track again I am going to drop it down to 24ish and see what happens, may not be ideal but answer if its the clutch or the wheels.

it can defintly be a problem i even spin a little from 1-2 shift in my auto so for you it would be much worse..also be carefull lowering your psi too much cuz i HEARD that radial tires will spin more at lowered PSIs, im not sure how low or how this happens, just ran MT ET drag rad. and thats what MT told me.

24 is way too low. Lowest I would suggest with a street radil is 28

Really I know it will not be ideal for the launch but I figured for the 1-2 and 2-3 shift teh rotation of the tire will be enough to not cause the center of the tire to bow in.

I would suspect the clutch, even though it is new, unless the track prep sucks.

our track is not known for the greatest prep... but could be. I mean a no intake, cutout on factory catback, and a ghetto tune, taking out a spec II?
