  • disappointing track times, thoughts?

so i made four runs with my car at teh track tonight and ran a best of 15.53 at 86.39 trap speed. best 60 ft time was 2.34 (SUCKY). the car is a 97 A4 w/ slp cold air, pacesetters, 3" exhaust w/ highflow cat, 3.42 gears, limited slip, aluminum driveshaft, manual fan switches. thats it as far as performance mods. like its got LS1 brakes but that doesnt matter. no wheel spin, stalled to about 2000, and that was all i could squeeze out of it... motor has 115k on it so that could be a factor. let me know what you think i could do. i was shooting for a 14.9
-heres what the slip looked like
    R/T----.7426
    60ft----2.3462
    330ft----6.5893
    1/8----10.0802
    1/8mph----72.31
    1000----13.1164
    1000mph----78.12
    1/4----15.5356
    1/4mph----86.39

work on your 60ft times with some more practice launching the car. Try different rpms and such to find what your car likes.

well the 60' is in need of work deffinately. keep in mind also that weather plays a huge role also. practice launching, go back in the fall when its cooler and im sure you can hit your goal. given your mods and the cars mileage thats still a pretty good time though.

If you're not getting any tire spin you need to push the launch harder: if you can launch hard enough to get them to chirp without spinning, that's ideal.

15.5 is not bad for a car with those, esp. with 115k and in the heat. I doubt your motor is in bad shape at all. You could still do some basic stuff like plugs and wires, make sure the filter is clean, etc.

Get the .60 down. It's said that every .1 off the '60 is .2 off the total 1/4 et.
