The term "cam-only" to me implies that the heads, intake and bottom end are stock. Ie. no porting/polishing, upgraded valvetrain, pistons, rods, crank, etc.
Each person is going to have their own definition. But regardless it's an awesome NA time Shawn!
Like I said, each person is going to have their own definition, so you should define it how YOU think it should be, you're the one that brought home the times! I'm not arguing with you over terminology or contradicting your statement. I was merely giving my opinion to refute those that think bolt-ons don't count as "cam-only". ;)
I dont care what anyone calls it, the only person running quicker than me without headwork and intake porting is littleG because his car weighs 400 pounds lighter than mine :)
FunkZ, you're arguing semantics. No one smart would just throw an aftermarket cam in their engine with no supporting valvetrain mods. The statement "cam only" includes the necessary valvetrain mods (which add no power by themselves) in order to run the cam safely. In my opinion it includes a tune for the added lift and duration as well. That's what I assumed, I got the necessary supporting mods, and my cam is more mild than his.
Congratulations, that's a monster time! :)
what's the lift on your cam? Is it a custom grind?
That really is an amazing time. No weight reduction?

I have minimal weight reduction, but its sort of negated by the fact that I have the W68 body-kit on a factory fat firebird. Only real weight reduction I have is no front swaybar, no backseat and an odyssey battery.
My car weighs in at 3400 without the bottle.
This is a 210/220 112lsa cam with .512 lift. It's abbotts n/a grind.
I will try to beat this time next weekend, because after that I'm putting in my 230/240 115lsa cam and will no longer be able to run n/a.
Yeah, there's a lot of confusion with words. I hear guys, esp. LS1, saying runs low 13 to high 12 as a stock. What they failed to say is that they have mods to enhance how the engine runs.
the only reason he has the injectors are because he has a powerdyne ready to install..... they in no way help make power, in fact the spray pattern of those large injectors are ment for boost not NA...... so he could have ran a tiny tiny bit faster
i would assume with a cam to run any kinda of record you would put in valve springs you do shoot a valve out the hood.. they add high rpm, thats about it, but any other person with cam can to that too..... thats fair
and for any kinda record you need griping tires..... have we forgot how to race?
the rear gear is the only thing "on the talbe" how even the other guys have those too..........
stall is to take advantage of the cam, witc hi think both other people have also
