  • My 1/4 times

    So I went to the track today for the first time. And of course I did horrible.

    So on my first run...it was bad and I really didnt want to show anyone..But it was my first time...And I screwed up real bad.

    Well I got up there and I did a little burnout...and I pull up and I just tell myself...you know do it like you always have done..So the light goes through the cycle and then I go...Well I started burning out...So like I freaked out and shifting into 2nd...still burning out..By now I thought I had broke something so I shifted to 3rd....And I ended up running a 23.9. But I redeemed myself later..

    My next run..60ft- 2.6, 1/8- 10.5, 1/4-16.3

    Third run.. 60ft-2.4, 1/8-10.4, 1/4- 16.2

    Last run...60ft-2.4, 1/8-10.2, 1/4-15.8

    I dont know what went wrong...But I guess those are alright times..But I know my car can do better than a 15.8...cause Ive seen it..Just with a different driver.

    What mods do you have on your car?

    And dont worry about it, drag racing takes lots of practice, ESPECIALLY in a 5 speed. :)

        the only mods are exhaust, ram air, and thats it...theres a different shifter in there..if thats a mod...

            Yeah stock tires...No lsd. My friend owned the car before me and now he has a 02 z28...But the best run he ever got was a 15.2. But I just got a new clutch like alittle more than a month ago. I hope I can go back in a few weeks

              pratice shifting fast...you have complete exhaust (headers, cat, muffler, catback)?

                Cat-back exhaust or just a muffler?

                  I just have cat back....My reaction times were pretty bad too...1.0-1.5..

                    Dont worry about reaction times unless you are racing in competiton, just worry about getting a good launch.

                      hi-flow cat, headers, and muffler...those are the most restrictive parts of the exhaust system...so upgrading those would help

                        i think you need to get the power you have to the ground....

                        even a 2.0 or 2.1 60 foot would give you low 15's

                        shifting is a factor too

                          LSD and gears will have the more effect than more bolt ons. Just FYI. :)

                            Not just a factor. A HUGE factor in a t5. You can find a half second deference in times betweens shifting methods. The longer you spend between gears the slower your going to go, the lower you let the rpms fall the slower your going to go. You'll know a good shift when you feel it because your car will noticably accelerate at every shift.

                              You went 2.4 60s...I wouldnt expect anything better than a 15.8

                              Do not do a burnout on street tires. Just line up, spin em over once or twice and then launch more gently to the point where you can launch as hard as possible without spinning and try to get a 2.1 60.
