  • Just ordered my ET streets!!!!!

    I am so f-ing pumped!!
255/50/16s that I will mount on my stockers.

Previous best is a 14.775 with a 2.2X '60 time on BFG G-force sports that are not meant for drag racing at all. These things just plain do not hook.

I've heard the MTs really hook well, so anyone think a 1.8 '60 is possible? If the .2 off 1/4 et for every .1 off '60 rule of thumb is true, a 1.8 might net me a high-13. I'll be satisfied with a low-14, which is probably what I will run.

BTW: I have a 3000 stall converter. Forgot to mention too that I added a Whisper lid since last time out.
    My breakdown on previous timeslips.
    http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread.php?t=77609

I'm taking bets on what you think I will run.

      umm, what do you mean?

My tires slide all over the place. I have a cam, converter, intake, exhaust, 3.42s, and made 201 to the rear wheels. No, I'm not making gobs of power, but it's enough to justify some better tires. Slicks would be too much tire. There are people who've made less power that have used these tires, and they're expensive, but I wanted the best drag radial I could find.

The ET streets ARE drag radials.

ET drags are slicks. I think you're confusing your terminology. I just double-checked.

          This is what I ordered:

          http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...53925_-1_36685

They're R2 compound rating, if you look on their scale, and that's not nearly the softest thing available.

Built using the latest in high tech radial construction techniques and years of drag racing experience in compound development, this DOT approved street legal drag radial will get your car down the track in record time and drive you home with sure handling and an excellent ride!

            nope your confused

            ET drag = slick
et street = DOT legal slick (basically it has tiny groves for the road) (wrinkle wall) rain = death
ET Street radial = just like a street tire with steal bands, only really sticky and not bad in the rain.....

you have the ET street raidal. that what i use you dont need a long burn out with them at all....... long burn out = wasted of tire with those dont let any one tell you different

I just used the term ET street loosely, didn't realize there was a difference between the two.

              lol.

So, maybe a 5-second burnout or so? What about break-in?

Re: Just ordered my ET streets!!!!!

ok, will do on the burnout. Isn't there a proper way I should break them in though, when I first use them at the track? I thought I've heard that before, I just can't find where I read it.

Viper, just out of curiosity: for your best run, did you baby the launch? I seem to remember traction issues in your post about it awhile back. That's a little discouraging to me if you're pulling 1.8 '60s putting down so much more power. I was hoping for sub-2.0s.

Re: Just ordered my ET streets!!!!!

I also hope that you got an ET street RADIAL and not an ET street.

I 60' harder than almost any other V6 fbody and I dont need an ET street. My 255 et street radials have seen plenty of 1.60 60s and will easily go 1.5s if I push it a little harder. I run 1.80 60s on motor no problem...so they'll be able to hook to whatever 60 you want em to go.

I do about a 5 second burnout on nitrous and about 3 second burnout n/a and run em at about 26psi on nitrous and 29psi n/a....but that will really depend on how your cars setup to hook, so adjust the psi in 2psi increments until you find what works best for your car.

If you learn to launch it I think you could get around a 14.3

Re: Just ordered my ET streets!!!!!

Yes, that's what I bought. I made sure it was a radial tire before I ordered it. I wouldn't touch anything that's close to a slick, DOT approved or not.

Yeah, 14.3 or so is my **realistic** goal. I'm used to launching with very bad rubber, so I should be able to launch it fairly well with the MTs. We'll see what happens. If these tires come in this week I'll go to the track friday.

I hope I don't break my rear diff, I don't think I'm putting down enough power, but I have heard of it happening.

Really? I'd really like to know your modifications. It would be really easy for me to call BS on this one, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.....
