at the base of it there is a metal/plastic piece that is held on by a big long bolt. Just holds the battery in place.

'tech inspections are more for power-adder cars or track-specific cars, not stock cars...they're checking to make sure there isn't any glaring problems with the way your nitrous is wired up, make sure that you have a roll-cage if you run fast enough, that you have a firesuit/fire extinguisher if you have spray on the car, making sure you have the proper safety equipment if you run a certain time, etc etc.
There's been times when I pulled up to the tech station, and all they asked me is if I had any power-adders and what ET I was running. I answered no, and low 14's, respectively, and they passed me w/o popping the hood

with practice, you'll see 15's...but probably not in the first or second run

Don't get mad at me because you asked a question that's been asked a thousand times and are too lazy to do the footwork to find out for yourself

tech inspections vary from track to track.

Here in NJ, Englishtown's tech inspection is a joke. It's basically "Hand this piece of paper to the inspector, who immediately signs off on it and returns it to you." At Island Dragway, however, they actually inspect your vehicle.

You can pretty much guarantee that you'll pass tech inspection in a stock or near-stock car. It's more for the more-modified vehicles than for stock cars.

With the mods you listed, and considering your experience level, you'll be running around a high 15 second, low 16 second 1/4 mile. If I were you, I'd do some weight reduction before you go to the track - remove the rear and passenger seats, the spare tire and jack (do this AT the track - you don't want to be caught without them should something happen on the way to the track), and run on a 1/4 tank of gas. These simple reductions can bring a high 15 down to a low-mid 15 second 1/4. If you have an automatic trans, I always found the best launch RPM was around 1500 or so. Some might disagree, but for a stock-ish car with an open diff, 1500 RPM is pretty optimal. Don't be surprised if your first couple runs are in the 16 second range. They'll drop with practice.

                          Re: nhra street legal nights

stock stall is roughly 1800 rpms.

play around with it and see what your car likes.
