So, yeah, I went to atco on thursday and ran my car for the first time ever. Due to technical difficulty at the track (huge delay due to track clean up), i was only able to do 1 run only. I think I need to work on my reaction time and get a newer tire that's not bald. Not so bad for a car that's 9 years old and got approx 95K miles. Suggestion appreciable
Specs:
98 camaro v6
3:42 gear
Auburn LSD
Flowmaster axleback muffler
Lid + Holley filter
95,125 miles
60's arent HORRIBLE, but they're bad. 15.5 for a almost stock car isnt bad at all. 2.0 or a 2.1 60' and your have low 15's.
good job, you went quicker than i did with less mods ( both our first times too )

Cool, I didn't knew that r/t doesn't effect reaction time. Lets say it I add aluminum drive shaft and cutout, with a better 60', is it possible to see 14s? Not that I am crazy about running 14s but if I can do it with simple cheap bolt on, why not.
Thanks. If I keep my car, I'll definitely shoot for a 14s before the summer ends. If i remember correctly, I could only rev through 1500 rpm while holding the brake before the launch since my tires were bald. If I can rev up to 2000 to 2200 with better tire, I should be good.
your car is auto or stick, for an auto car that thing is movin pretty good, put a convertor in it and a set of radials youd lose some MPH i believe but ets would improve drastically

Got a nice run there. Like they said, practice makes perfect. First time I ran my car, I ran a nice 16.3. Eventually, through practice (got 7 runs in that day :D), I got it down to 15.4, and still think I could have launched abit harder. That's with just CAI and aluminum DS. New/better tires will help alot. Main thing you should work on is getting your 60' down. If you get to the track and there's practically no one there, just concentrate and pulling off lower 60's and not worrying about racing or running your best time. Once you get your launch down, your car's gonna run alot quicker. Like Nachius said, every .1 in your 60' is about .2 in the final E/T. If you can get it down to 2.0, you should be very close to runnin 15.0's, maybe even breaking into the 14's if the weather's good.
Thanks for the comment. The previous owner did ran this car 15.2 and 15.1 WITHOUT the ram air intake that i put on. But again that was 45k miles ago. I deff. need to practice my launching technique. Our racetrack is so gay. I think you can only run one or twice in day, that's it. I am really looking forward to putting aluminum DS on. How was the install and HP gain? I am afraid that I might get rattles after install.
ds installis a walk, 45 total inclduing getting the car up....4 bolts on the rear end, might need to hammer the old DS out of place, then it will slip out of the tranny, have a catch pan and tranny fluid ready.
